Did you uninstall older versions of .net? (Never do that).
.net versions are not cumulative – that is, if you have an application that requires version 2 of .net, and another that requires version 3, then you must have both installed.
The “Unmanaged Exception” is basically that an error handler is missing. I don’t think Ive ever seen one outside of my software development days in a prior life.

First, for the OP, Vegas 9e is extremely reliable here, but I have been using Vegas since Version 3 and I have experienced zero crashes and only one bug in the generated media fx, which Sony fixed very quickly.
I suspect that you are reading the posts from three or four people who are experiencing problems that no one else can reproduce who scream BUG as often and as loudly as possible.
So, lose users to Premiere? LOL!! I assure you that hanging out on any Premiere forum will show you some real problems, (mostly Windows crashes) and a significant number of defectors swearing that they are moving to Avid or FCP.
So, don’t threaten to migrate – just go. If your PC is too unstable for Vegas, you will *really* be impressed with the “stability” of Premiere.
OP – don’t buy into the fear-mongering. Download 9e and try it. As previously stated, you can always uninstall it and reinstall an earlier version if you have to.

All I see is a lot of pan-zoom and blurred transitions. You could do this in Aftereffects or just about any pro video editing program.
I would just put all the images on a giant canvas in Photoshop then use my video editor to pan and zoom all over that page.

Duplicate the tracks, offset them by a few frames, try 15 to start, and reduce their opacity.
This took me about five minutes. The delayed tracks are on top of the main track. Main track is 100% opacity, and the tracks above it are 34%, 45% and 55% opacity.

If you both have the original media files, all you need to exchange is the veg files. Vegas is non-destructive – you never change the original footage.
BTW – I use Dropbox to exchange files with clients.

Well, I don’t really know how mine works…. I really never noticed the mov thumbnails in my Explorer windows before installing the raw codecs, but, then, I rarely encounter mov files.
I wonder if that VLC is my default viewer for everything has anything to do with it? Could Explorer be looking to the default program for the mov filetypes icon? Quicktime in your case and VLC in mine? When I add a mov file to an explorer window, the VLC “cone” is displayed for a couple of seconds, then it’s replaced with the first frame of the video.
Quicktime is evil. I wouldn’t even have it on my system except for those times that I do need it for Vegas. I *do not* let Apple automatically update anything on my system – it seems that every time there is a new release from Apple, there’s a bunch of people who can’t get mov files into their Vegas projects again.
But, that’s a tangent – I really recommend VLC.

You have some other issue because I just loaded a 4.8Gb uncompressed mov file – no problem.

What can I say – it works here. Your view does have to be medium or large icons.
Also, I only have Quicken installed as Vegas sometimes needs it, otherwise VLC is my default player for everything media.Steve Mann

I am considering exactly this setup for my greenscreen studio. I am already capturing live to my PC in HDV, but I am not getting as clean a key as I would like because of the compression in the camera.
What RAID do you recommend? What’s your workflow into Vegas?
