I just installed “FastPictureViewerCodecPack” to get my DSLR RAW images to appear in Windows Picture Viewer, and it also gives me thumbnails in Explorer.
In addition, the codec pack works, so far, with every image and video file format on my hard disk.

Warning – If you save your project in Vegas 9, you can’t open it again in Vegas 8. Do a save-as to a new name if you want to keep your V8 veg file.
(BTW – You don’t render MPEG, you encode it. Notwithstanding that it’s in the “render as” menu.)

You guys nailed it. Thanks. The footage is 29.97 and the comp settings was for 23.976
I probably glanced and saw the .97, but the 23 never registered.

There’s probably a few ways to do this in Vegas, as long as your source media has an alpha channel. Right click on the event and look at the event properties. Toward the bottom you can set the source to “premultiplied” – if it has an alpha channel.

You need to fix that or, as the warning says, it’s an orphan and you can’t get to it.
You don’t need *any* buttons on your menu page, just drop the media to the project and make sure that the movie is set to “first play”. (The little blue star in the project window).

While you *could* replicate all this in Vegas, it’s most likely that it was done using Adobe Aftereffects.

If you can, then shoot in progressive and keep everything up to the DVD as progressive.
But since all DVD players will do a de-interlace on the fly, why not let the player handle the interlaced video?
BTW, Encoding determines the GOP and iFrames. Interlacing has nothing to do with it.

The waveform on the timeline is pretty coarse for that purpose. Your best solution would be a PC-based oscilloscope and a screen-capture program like Camtasia. I haven’t ever used one, but there are free oscilloscope programs on the web. I plan to try using the Visual Analyzer (https://www.sillanumsoft.org/) soon because it has a waterfall display which I want to experiment with. I notice in the specs that there is also a capture feature, but again, I only know what their website says.

My guess is that you are missing the codec that Magix installed. Get the free program “GSpot” (https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Gspot) and it will tell you what codec was used to encode the AVI file.
