You don’t say anything about your system specs, but DV AVI is so easy on system resources that a cellphone could do it. If a cellphone could run Windows. (Apologies to the Cavemen).

I would look at your pagefile usage to see if data is being swapped into pagefile.sys

Every product release nets some users with a problem in their PC’s. Not just Vegas, but every program in the PC world. But the overwhelming majority of Vegas users are happy with the upgrade. If you are editing AVCHD then the upgrade will be a substantial performance improvement.

Why don’t you download V10 and try it out. A lot of us leave older versions installed for various reasons.

No, it’s not a Vegas bug – it is that Vegas uses more of your PC resources than most other programs. So if your PC is marginal (and the default settings are usually marginal), then Vegas will likely push it over the edge.

This is getting to be a broken record…..

Low Memory or Out of Memory does not mean “Not enough RAM”, though adding RAM can sometimes fix a “Low Memory” waning. A “Low Memory” warning usually means that you have exceeded your commit limit. You need either a bigger page file, more physical memory, or both.

You haven’t provided any information about your PC, but I would bet on running out of memory and your pagefile is getting hammered.

An “unmanaged exception” Windows error is almost always a driver issue. But if you have identified the offending piece of media, and replaced it with a transcoded copy, then just delete the old one. The next time you start the Vegas project, it will complain that it can’t find the media. You just provide the new media name.
