    Hi there!
Started to use Vegas Pro 10 and work stopped 🙁 Even if i don’t use any FXs and almost no transitions in the project (720 x 480 PAL, using AVI files), it’s works incredibly slow, CPU is more than 50 % when it’s just playback, lots of colorful artefacts.
I use Vegas from v.4 since years and normally my projects were much heavier with lots of FX, but this time it’s a bit unusual slow.
Any ideas or suggestions will be very appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Alexey

Uninstall it…If its not Vegas 10.0e make sure you
download this latest version…Then reinstall it.

If problem persists, double check if any other program
is running in the background when you are using Vegas.

You don’t say anything about your system specs, but DV AVI is so easy on system resources that a cellphone could do it. If a cellphone could run Windows. (Apologies to the Cavemen).

I would look at your pagefile usage to see if data is being swapped into pagefile.sys

Is there no problem with your project settings? You mention taht you are working with PAL. Usually, PAL is 720×576, not 720×480

I moved to Mac some time ago, so my PC i left not that powerful.
There is Asus laptop, Intel Core Duo, 2.00 GHz, 2 Gb RAM, Win XP SP3, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100.
Project settings: 720×480, 25fps, progressive scan, pixel aspect ratio 1,0000
    No any FX.
I edit copy of HD video, when edition will be complete i’ll replace files in project with source files.
    Everything is very light!

And just when playback i have CPU loaded up to 97 %.
    Total RAM: 1965228
    Available: 916616
    System cache: 837212
    PF usage: 1,22 Gb

    That what happens.
