You may not be able to. The disc has a permanently embedded code (Media Code Block) in the hub that all burners and drives use to determine who made the media (there’s only a few disc manufacturers in the world so just because the box says Sony, it’s a commodity item that may have been manufactured by Fujitsu chemical), and the manufacturer’s preferred burn characteristics, such as how fast, speed change tracks, etc).
I am not aware of any utilities that tell you what the MCB on CD’s contains.
But, you probably can’t record at 1X (why would you want to?) because the media manufacturer doesn’t want you to.

Probably not (unless you want to spend some money on Genuine Fractals from OnOne Software).
I just looked at their website and notice that they changed the product name and the price seems to be a lot lower than I recall. And they have a free trial, so see if it works for you. And let us know what happens.

GDI is Graphic Device Interface. Windows 7 limit (via the registry) defaults to 10,000 objects per process. If you have a lot of images and media files, you could eat all your GDI’s which presents itself as “Out of Memory”.
Every window, every button, every icon – everything on the display needs a GDI. Some programs will create the GDI’s needed by everything that needs a GDI, even if it’s not on the screen. Vegas does this, MS Office Programs do, too.
You can open the Task Manager, click on the processes tab, then click on the GDI column to sort them by size. Surprisingly, Firefox on my PC ties up 4,097 GDI’s, while a small Vegas project only uses 531 GDI’s.

It’s not clear what you’re trying to do. What does “I tried to group the v/a” mean?
I think that you are trying to copy/paste a track group. Which Vegas currently won’t do.

That’s one of the secrets of Vegas – it is a perfectly capable audio editor. I have Sound Forge, but I only use it for serious noise cleanup with the Noise Reduction plug-in for Sound Forge. Everything else I do in Vegas.

As John said, DV-AVI will be your best bet. MPEG is a delivery format and I would keep the media in DV-AVI up until encoding the MPG for the DVD.

I have an older 8-CH Presonus and an equally old Laptop with firewire, running Vegas 9 just for recording 8-tracks of audio.
The whole kit fits into a 4U DJ’s box. I am going to be doing location audio for an indie film next month using this setup.
