    Malcom, that is what I meant with Ghost Backup. A clone, will really save your bacon if you mess things up troubleshooting. I use Ghost, but there are a lot of products out there. XXCOPY can sort of do it, is free.

    Try using the “Legacy” disk drivers. Options, Preferences, CD Settings tab, check the “use Legacy” drivers. Worth a try. This has fixed a lot of odd burning problems for me in the past. It will force Vegas to bypass the Vegas drivers and use the ones that are mapped to the Windows system.

    If you don’t already have a good disk-image backup (something like Symantec Ghost), I’d advise getting one and taking a snapshot before you start using the long knives on your computer.

    Ghost has saved my bacon a bunch of times. Last year I had horrible problems, DVD architect kept crashing, nothing I did seemed to help. Although the problem ultimately turned out to be a bug with DVDA that was fixed with build 133, during troubleshooting I mucked things up. I dove into the registry, ripped out MS c++ redistributable, .NYET, tons of stuff that did not help but just broke things. Lucky for me I had an image I went back to.

  • If this was not so horrible and scary … and please don’t hate me for this … the effect is sort of cool for a title of a horror flik!

    Do you still have SVP 10 installed? Do you get the same problem if you re-create the project in 10?

    Also, just curious -is it only with WMV? Have you tried rendering the same project to a different format?

    I get better results using the Legacy Disk Drivers, although I’ve never used your type of source and don’t typically use Vegas for CD authoring. Options, Preferences , CD tab, check the “use legacy disk drivers”. Might want to reboot windows to make sure it takes effect. This will cause Vegas to use Windows drivers to talk to the disk instead of the Vegas drivers.

    If you are rendering for the web, I always thought that 29.97 (30p) is recommended, even with footage shot in 24p. I think that YouTube and Vimeo have that as a recommendation.

  • I use “good” for all renders until I get to the final production stuff, i.e. when I’m testing for delivery, then I switch to “best” ’cause I’m sort of obsessive. I like to imagine that I can tell the difference in the quality when viewing BDs on my TV. It is subtle but can be observed.

    But I’m also a focus-freak amateur astronomer who is known to still bang on the projection booth door at movies and demand that they tweak the focus!

    Have you tried asking the nice Panny People in this forum? Once the files are in the computer Vegas will be able to read them.

    Hi;

    Still not sure about the color shift problem, but man, this really reminds me of that sRGB thing that bugs me with photos. BTW a shot of a train is not good for comparison, because none of us know what the train is supposed to look like. Sky is better.

    We need John Rofrano to jump in. Perhaps this might get his attention, even though it is not the best forum etiquette (I’ll take the blame) create a new thread, put his name in the subject something like “Help us John Rofrano” and in the body of the post, ask for help and paste in the URL of this thread.

    And please, tell us the camera and settings. More info will not hurt!

    On another note, when you render for YouTube you want to use 30p. Below is the settings I use for max quality for YT uploads:

  • Hi Mark;

    OK, I turned off scaling and wow – it is faster. It is also cool to have a full-size section of the vid visible in the preview window!

    But, is there a way to select which section is visible? for example, a way to slide the view up/down, left/right?
