    Until recently, I have been converting my HD clips from .mts to WMV and rendered out to WMV. Now I decided to just edit the .mts files and then render as .m2ts to keep the original HD resolution. When I render that way, the video seems to be slightly discolored. It has sort of a bluish tint to it. I tried warming up the color with color corrector, but instead of reversing the effect, it just made the clip look more purple then blue. Is this just characteristic of the file type, or is this a setting I can fix.

    Here is the first video I rendered as m2ts. You’ll probably be able to tell how its discolored. It just has a very “cold” look to it.

    Thanks for the help in advance.

    Hi;

    The sample does look purplish.

    However, file types (i.e. the type of transport scheme) are not directly related to the encoding scheme, and that ought not have anything to do with color balance unless something else is happening.

    More info would be helpful:

    * what camera and settings were used on the shoot?
    * what version of Vegas?
    * Exactly what settings used for the render?

    Perhaps after more details, one of the *true* gurus on this forum can help.

    Stephen-

    Thank you for the response. I do not fiddle with the camera settings too much so I’m not sure exactly what it was on other than sunlight white balence. I don’t think that is the problem because the raw video footage color is fine. To render I used the AVCHD template. I’ll know more details when I get home.

    Thanks

    Ok …

    But don’t be shy, let us know the camera, and what the default settings are. It really will help us assist you.

    Part of the problem you describe and what I see remind me a little of the problems with photos and sRGB vs Windows RGB Adobe RBG or the various other profiles/color spaces. I’m oversimplifying but color space can really mess with the way a photo or a video looks. This is complicated by the fact that different applications can take the same photo and make the colors look different. Firefox vs IE vs photoviewers.

    Others who know more about this than I do please jump in. Could it have something to do with Computer RGB vs Studio RGB?

    Here is a screen shot of the render settings, hopefully that will give you a better idea.

    Thanks,

    And here is a side by side comparison. Right is the original, left is the rendered version. I tried uploading it to youtube to make sure it wasn’t just because of the player and it still had the same bluish tint.

    Hi;

    Still not sure about the color shift problem, but man, this really reminds me of that sRGB thing that bugs me with photos. BTW a shot of a train is not good for comparison, because none of us know what the train is supposed to look like. Sky is better.

    We need John Rofrano to jump in. Perhaps this might get his attention, even though it is not the best forum etiquette (I’ll take the blame) create a new thread, put his name in the subject something like “Help us John Rofrano” and in the body of the post, ask for help and paste in the URL of this thread.

    And please, tell us the camera and settings. More info will not hurt!

    On another note, when you render for YouTube you want to use 30p. Below is the settings I use for max quality for YT uploads:
