Part of the problem you describe and what I see remind me a little of the problems with photos and sRGB vs Windows RGB Adobe RBG or the various other profiles/color spaces. I’m oversimplifying but color space can really mess with the way a photo or a video looks. This is complicated by the fact that different applications can take the same photo and make the colors look different. Firefox vs IE vs photoviewers.

Others who know more about this than I do please jump in. Could it have something to do with Computer RGB vs Studio RGB?

Ok…

I’m still confused. I have probably not explained what I’d like to accomplish clearly. I have read everything in the help sections for ripple, and have been testing, but I suspect that what I want is not possible.

I’m not looking for a way to ripple after (or during) the deletion of an event.

Instead, I want a way to take a section of time, and squeeze together all non-blank events in the section so that they are touching.

It seems as if ripple only works for the last event that was deleted. I am pleased that it will allow me to delete “blank” sections of the timeline after I click-drag to select that blank section, but I can’t figure out a way to select multiple blank sections of the timeline.

Am I asking for the impossible?

Although I use the Huffy codec, I had a problem where I could not see it in Vegas. Turned out I needed the 64-bit version; I had installed the 32-bit version of Huffy but I have 64-bit Vegas.

Do you have Adobe Photoshop?

It seems like you need access to a photo editing program that can find edges, then copy a region to a new image, which you will save as a .png. Then the map will not have the white background, but instead a transparent background. Doing this is a very common practice in photo editing.

If you don’t have Photoshop, try Gimp, lots of people use it as an open source alternative to Photoshop.

So … perhaps you can save me from a few BD coasters. If I have source footage that is 1080 60i, and I want to make a BD that will be played back on my Samsung 1080i TV, what Vegas de-interlace setting is best, and which render for BD setting is best? (Footage has a lot of motion).

FYI I sent the AC160 back. Not sure if it is polite to post my criticisms here. I’m still sad about it not working out. There is pretty much nothing left to try in the three-chipper ENG offerings until JVC releases the GY-HM600U in late October.

For now I’m slunk back to my cave to lick my wounds and try to get some solace by fiddling with Vegas 11.

Just out of curiosity – I just installed Vegas 11 build 595 – if I did want to test GPU acceleration with my nVidia FX 570, what do I need to do? SVP 11 just tells me GPU is off and the drop down does not have an “on” options.

I know I am being a doofus just asking without doing ANY research at all …. ;-b

BTW I don’t do any GPU acceleration with Vegas on my aging Dell T3400 … just glad everything still works. Warranty just expired, no $$ to upgrade anytime soon.
