  • Thanks Walter. I’m going to swap the BM and HBA around. Suggested by Highpoint.

Have you tried a Caldigit HDPRO ?

    Cheers

  • Were capturing from xbox360 at 720P 59.94 uncompressed 8bit.

    MacPro
    4gig
    ati1900

    10.4.10
Clean install of FCS2 then upgraded to latest versions, including BM drivers.

    HBA slot 4
    BM HD Extreme slot 3
    empty slot 2
    ATI1900 slot 1

Expansion slot utility option 2 selected

Raid is 8disk sata with highpoint card. AJA disk test rates at 450 MB/s when empty. 3.2TB (8x500gig @ raid5) Now have 1.6TB free and still tests at 360 MB/s
AJA graph does show spikes though :-/

Everyone else fine running FCS2 then ?

    Any ideas Walter?

    thanks

  • Liable? or do you ? have you tried? 200% of an 8core isn’t that like really just 2cores at 100%?

See what happens if you havent already, though I never touch a mac once its laying off.

Intresting!!.. I went back to old boot driver fcp 5.1.4 and old drivers and also could then playback 3 streams of 720P8bit/10bit and record as much as I wanted..

with fcs2 and BM6.2 drivers I get disk speed errors.. trashed prefs.. restarted and it seems ok.. switch rez to say PAL, capture.. switch back.. its back.. Not impressed.

Never thought about being a conflict with the cards! how did you conclude this?

Currently boot off external with 5.1.4 and 6.1 on for stable capture.. then reboot to edit clips. Not ideal!

Easy setup does not setup !.. possibly a fcp bug though.

static clicks.. yes… but thought that may be the fridge :-/

  • PAL? NTSC ?

One thing I’ve come across doing PAL edit > DVD. Send a PAL (720×576) 5:4 anamorphic edit to DVD StudioPro, DVDSP makes the image 720×405.. tell it 4:3 and slightly better at 720×540.. still c’mon.. it’s 720×576.. very wierd.

Anyway.. QT, fcp Export and Compressor all seem to do really bad scaling so I always rescale the final timeline in Shake, but I only do shortform.

Post how you get on, but yes.. it will… so do some short tests first! 😉

  • System pref> BlackMagic > Processing> Output> HD>SD anamorphic not Letterbox option.

    Thats in 6.2drivers.

Does this work for you ?

  • Intresting,, As Shake slows to a crawl when outputting a quicktime thats anything but Uncompressed.. :-/
