Mark IN and OUT on the spot you want.
    Go to FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME CONVERSION
Change from QUICKTIME MOVIE in the dropdown menu, to STILL IMAGE.
Set it to what format you want.
    Export.

You will most likey have to de-interlace in PS.

Search the forum for both models and read plenty about people’s experiences. Talked about quite a bit.

FCE HD captures DV as DV/NTSC…same codec as FCP. It captures HDV as AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec), while FCP captures HDV in its native format.

  • Use the 8-bit uncompressed settings. Beta is 8-bit. You can drop it into the 8-bit timeline, then add the filter, then render. I am not quite sure you need the filter, as Graeme is oft to say that FCP adds back the pulldown on output…but I’d defer that to someone with more knowledge in this area.

Why did you edit 23.98 if you are outputting 29.97?

  • PCIe has better performance…so I hear. I am not all that technical when it comes to differences in computer architecture. PCIe slots will work with PCIe HD cards to capture uncompressed HD. PCI-X slots will work with PCI-X capture cards to capture uncompressed HD. They both work. Many people are editing uncompressed HD on Dual 2ghz G5s with PCI-X. PCIe just happens to be newer, and boast faster response times and some other technical things.

Both work fine with uncompressed HD. PCIe would be better, because it is faster.

Ask them. If you want to provide content to someone, you generally ask them what they accept.

Yes…you are mising the basics. Look in the MOTION tab in the Viewer. Once you drop the clip in the timeline, park your playhead on it and double click it to load it into the viewer. Now play with SCALE and CENTER. If you click on the + you can manually drag it.

Need more help…the manual covers this well. As does the tutorial.

You should be using the TITLE 3D option, under BORIS.

January 31, 2006 at 10:13 pm in reply to: Importing from P2: Error

My producer brought me another copy of the files…and they imported just fine. Odd how that info was missing in the first place, but a good testament to the need of backups and backups of backups.

Original P2 downloads on Four Lacie Porche 80GB drives. Info copied to a 1TB G-RAID. The info on three imports was faulty on that, so he copied the originals (just the missing ones) to another Porche drive and these imported fine. Again, with some of the video files missing…but again, due to the DP deleting the unneeded files.

    SWEET!
