you really just need to get into AE and look at your options.
The ‘text on a path’ plug in is very useful and has a lot of animation options. The text tool itself combined with the expression presets are excellent 1 step text animation options. The AE manual should explain
how to mess with these two options. The text on path plug in, you can just play with without instructions.

    Try those….

the plug in set “DAMAGE” by digieeffects is EXACTLY what you need for this. I wrote a review of the software on the net. (google damage review) they are great tools and affordable!

i dont want to oversimplify this, but wouldn’t doing a card wipe to your liking FIRST, THEN animating a wave using any number of plug ins or bezier mesh tools do the trick? I know forge freeform will do the wave with displacement as well. I never seem to get good results with the displacement plug in.

    good luck

the answer is yes as far as I know. You cant “render out” your invigerator content, THEN scale it up, that will result in a softening of your image. If the non rendered invigerator file is present and “in place” in the new HD comp it should render out as clean and nice as your D1 comp.

I wouldnt keyframe it. Simply duplicate your layer with the sweep and offset it to whenever you want it to begin.

I agree with Ron, your best shot in ae is with a mesh, or I would use a bezier warp and have both layers in 3d space. You may or may not have to use some layering tricks and or a mask to make it work.

3d is best if you have the skills.

  • yes is the answer. 2 ways. Output your particles in PI and in after effects use an overlay and luminance
composting mode. Or import your scene INTO PI and you can set the particles to take on the color of the
    background image…..

  • Hi Ron, I would use particle illusion. Im 90% sure that is what they used, especially on the second
animation. I love that program, its so versatile. You may want to ask this same question on the particle illusion forum, and ask them which emitters to use.

July 1, 2008 at 10:46 pm in reply to: Which Sofware I Should Use?!

Im a fan of Electric Image, its cheap fast and powerful. I use zaxwerks to model my illustrator
files. (click my head 🙂 to see the link to my demo reel if you care) I also am learning and using MAYA.

Otherwise, for a lot more money, mograph people seem to like C4d. Film people use Maya, Max and XSI a lot. I have used all except max and prefer Electric Image, free training videos and a lot more.
Combined with invigerator for modeling it can be a pretty nice combination.

Cinema is what I would choose if you were looking to work FOR someone. Tons of people use it, its just more expensive and more difficult to learn up front, but it plays well with after effects. Maya is probably the highest learning curve.
