I was wondering if I have to do a HD project, can I do it in NTSC widescreen and then before rendering change the comp settings to HD and then scale up the INVIGORATOR layer?

the answer is yes as far as I know. You cant “render out” your invigerator content, THEN scale it up, that will result in a softening of your image. If the non rendered invigerator file is present and “in place” in the new HD comp it should render out as clean and nice as your D1 comp.
