What is the audio material? If it is music I would do near CD quality or higher. If it is voice you can do lower…I myself hate MP3 because of the sound degradation, however I have owned a recording studio for 14 years!!! In any case…that should be good for website. Hope it helps!

When you click on the clip in the explorer window, at the very bottom of that window it will give you all the clips attributes. Dimensions, sample rate for audio, etc.

In the past I have done this repeatedly, speed it up as far as you can, render it, take it into vegas, speed it up again..etc, until I get the correct length…a little tedious, but worked well!

Are you talking about written music or the actual music? There are several that you can use to write it, others that sort of help you to compose it. Cinescore is fairly good and is a sony product. Acid is a loop based music creation program, so you will need to buy other loops as well. I have both and use both, Cinescore is easier, but kinda harder to taylor. Acid takes more time, can get you better results, but you will need to purchase more loops. I have quite a few and they work well. If you need to write the music and have it in written form, there is Sibelius, Notation and Finale. They all have there strong and weak points….hope this helps and good luck!

  • After he cuts the orange in half have him reach for it. Cut to a close up of him bringing the orange to his mouth to eat. This would obviously be another shot and you would not have to worry about the whole orange actually being cut at the same time it is not thing. Viewer still thinks the orange was cut in half with a lightsaber.

Right click on the external preview monitor above the preview window or the preview setting. To select a “loop” region, just click and hold on the area above the timeline and drag to the left of right to select a region. Be aware that you will have a limited amount of RAM to use to preview a section of your video. It will take a few seconds to minutes to build a RAM preview depending on the project and any FX you may be using….Good Luck!

Is your project settings set for best? Also, set your preview for the best full but also select adjust size and quality for optimal playback. Select a region over your transition and select shift+B. This will give you a ram preview in the highest quality. It will allow you to see what should be rendered, and if they look good. It will also allow you to preview in a manner that is best for your computer when doing basic editing. Another thing, when you render out be sure to check the custom button and under project select use project settings. This will guarantee that the best quality is being rendered. I keep my default projects settings to best so I never have to worry about it. Let me know if this helps!

Do you have all the photos set to reduce interlace flicker in the “switches” Also, all your pics should have this selected, they look much better that way. Hope this helps!

March 15, 2010 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Reuse tapes?

I use JVC ME60 I think, they are like $2-3 dollars at B&H and you can get a bulk discount. I have had good luck with them. I had to get my FX1 repaired before (tape heads and mech) and I was using Maxell, the repair center said to use ANYTHING but those (Maxell)…the do not provide enough lubricant. Also, be sure to use a head cleaning tape when you switch tape brands. Obviously we need to use some types that clients may give us with material already recorded. These are just some of these basic rules help with dropouts and better recordings!
    Hope it helps!
