My record is 36hrs with a Intel Core 2 quad but I have neatvideo on two HDV tracks…..so I would expect you are in the ballpark!

  • You should be able to copy and then paste event attributes from event to event if I am correct.

  • THE sizes vary as do the dpi!! Here is an example:

    2800w x 1868h at 300 dpi

If I change that to 150 dpi it also cuts the pixels in half

HOWEVER I can double the pixels (and hence the SIZE of the pic) and the DPI remains the same!! The size of the file (in MB increases GREATLY and the the size in inches doubles as well)

    SOOOO what do I do?

Do I change the DPI, change the pixels, or increase the pixels and reduce the DPI or what?
I hope you can see my confusion, maybe this is just a photoshop issue and I DO understand that DPI related to video…but it is still confusing going from a pic that does have dpi, pixels and PAR to a video format that looks as PAR and pixels only!

ALSO, can I and should I change the PAR in photoshop to a rectangle (1.33)

I hope I did not make this more confusing than before…

    Thank you All!!

  • Thanks guys,so OK I understand that PNG is the best, and I aware that pixels are non-square in HDV…SOOOOOO

My other questions are still in need of answers:

DPI-if it is NOT important than what should I set it to in Photoshop? 72, 100, 150 etc..it will may file size an issue if I keep something 300 dpi can I change it to 72dpi?

Pixels – if I am working with a picture that is already using square pixels, how do I make them rectangular? Or do I just adjust the height or width to the proper size for HDV (1080 or 1916 per Theo’s note)?

Again I am getting memory errors on rendering based on using pics…so I want to get to the point were it is no longer an issue and basically take all my pics into photoshop make pixel and dpi adjustments and save them BEFORE I use them in Vegas…

Again thanks so much for all your help!!

  • Source files are NOT on the system drive, there are 4 physical drives and source are on one and I render to another. I do NOT have sizes because there are like 200 pics….I an not looking to fix previous projects but looking forward to others as where I can “optimize” source picture files…thanks!

Pulling audio up “past zero” is not always a good thing and headroom can be found by lowering all your other tracks, a little more work BUT keeps you from cliping. I have found that Vegas IS a reasonable DAW, however, it is what it is. I have done a fair amount of “remixing” of my stems in Vegas with very good results….plugins are the key, Waves, Izotope, and Antares have all given me good results in Vegas…plus I LOVE being able to output to Sound Forge to do more detailed editing, much nicer than the editor in Cubase IMO…good luck!!

I mix everything in Cubase and then do “stems” (basically subgroups) and render those to use in Vegas. I do a little processing in vegas but nothing major….have had good results with this!

  • I am still having memory issues when working with JPEG and PNG files. Same project has the same issues when trying to render….not sure why. Just uninstalled Vegas and re-installed….hoping for better results. Anyone else have this with 9d?

April 20, 2010 at 12:16 pm in reply to: How do you get a smooth zoom with pan/crop?

I have had the SAME THING happen with my videos, I do a zoom or pan in Pan/crop and it is jerky and sometimes interlaced (even with Reduce interlacing on). This happens when I am using pictures for that “Ken Burns” look. It does it with M2T, (1080i and 720p), Mpeg 2 and WMV, and the odd part they are often in different pictures depending on format. Also, 9d STILL throws me memory errors..again when I am working with pictures (jpeg and PNG)this is REALLY starting to get old!

April 11, 2010 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Vegas 32 vs 64 bit version & Mercalli

I have personally uninstalled my 64 bit version, because so many of my plugins do not work in it…. I see no benefit of having both of them and sometimes the 64 bit version randomly opens instead of 32bit.
