Obsolete only means that that they use old tech. May be not use 32/64 bit processing. However they they do work but at the cost of the CPU and not the GPU. Adobe plans to phase out all such CPU based effects in the future and have put them in the Obsolete bucket.

Consolidating Duplicates is a silent worker. Before and after consolidating duplicates, please check the number of clips in the project folder. If there are duplicates, the count should reduce. Obviously, duplicate files in the OS aren’t considered duplicates.

The best practice is to have smaller set of logical nests all lined up on the master sequence. Common layers can be on the master sequence. Having one nest for the entire sequence will only make it look clean. No benefits.

With sufficient RAM, cache and RTX 30xx up cards with more RAM, Premiere Pro is quite stable these days. The chances of crash becomes less than 0.01 percent.
My observation is that, Ppro crashes when –

1. Very large images (6-8K) are on the timeline and have keyframe or effects.

2. Dated video codecs

3. Mixed codecs

4. Uncleaned cache

I mean, I wanted to speed up the render for a long format sequence. I was wondering if I could achieve the same with some lumetri LUT.

The age old Posterize effect seems to be obsolete. I wish to create a posterize / stylize effect using the new lumetri that uses the GPU efficiently for faster render.

On repeated edits on the same set of footage, the cache gets fragmented as hell. Dedicate a folder on an free SSD drive for all cache. Delete them frequently. It may take a while to rebuild the cache, but it is worth the wait. Depending upon your CPU / GPU, use proxies and low res playback.

I haven’t tried this. But may work if you have the same audio in both the footage. Put both footage one above other on the timeline. Scene detect and cut the shorter video. Then, do a sync video based on audio. The clips from the shorter video will align to the times of longer one. Now you may cut the longer video and remove the unwanted clips.

However, thinking about the second option, after some months the tech of DDR5 might change and mixed RAMs may cause more trouble than a solution. I may not find identical RAMs as tech evolves.
