Is it possible to select all clips in a timeline that you have labeled a certain color?

When I’m reviewing footage I like to label the clips in the timeline to correspond with certain subjects. For example, if I’m shooting a car race I will do something like mark all of the shots of the racers Iris, car shots Lavender, crowd shots Rose, etc.

It would be nice to be able to select all of a certain label color so I can get all of my footage grouped according to what the content of the footage is with just a few clicks. Right now I select all the footage manually and cut and paste it into groups on my timeline to organize everything. Looking for a shortcut because it will save lots of time in the long run.

I found the solution. It was right in front of me the whole time but I never noticed it until I was looking for it.

To select all the labels in a timeline that are the same label color, just right click one of the clips in the timeline of the color you want to “select all” for and under the label drop down menu select “Select Label Group” at the top above all of the color names.

Thanks for pointing that out… That’s a very useful feature.

In Premiere CC 2015, have you experienced a color labeling issue when trying to label a single clip but instead every clip from that native file is changed?

I might have unknowingly changed some setting because it seems like there should be a way to unlink the labeling but please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Might be a little late here… But this might help.

In your timeline panel go to the Wrench and click to reveal the menu. The top menu item should be “Show Source Clip Name and Label” (in most recent versions of PPro). Toggle that menu item on or off and report back what happen to the clip colors in your timeline.

Thanks. That is a very useful tip indeed. In fact I color the clips that require modification later. Markers are unreliable as they move away with ripple. I wish there was something like go to the next same color clip.

On the (almost) tenth anniversary of this answer – THANK YOU! I was about to do a feature request for just this thing, but thought “Hmmm….better check whether it already exists”. And here you are, with the answer!
