You’ll only get pulldown that you can effectively separate if your film is sent through a real telecine or film scanner. If it’s just one of those things that basically projects the image into a DV camera you’ll get nothing you can separate into frames. The reason is that the shutter in the projector must be synced exactly to the video and the frame rates must be exactly on. Most of the 8mm I’ve seen transfered to video was impossible to separate.

This looks like a misguided attempt to generate D1 square pixel widescreen content. Just as 720 X 540 projects must be scaled to 90% for them to fit in a D1 720 X 486 comp, this must be scaled to 90% to fit in a 720 X 486 widescreen comp. There is no advantage in scaling to 90% in this case. In fact, you’ll suffer a bit of quality loss.
If you add any footage to the preset it must be deinterlaced and scaled up.

you can also close the comp window before you start a render.

Most of the banners on the Cow are flash. Gif would also work as a banner.

you can keep the letters together in shatter by using the type as a custom shatter map. Do a search for shatter text and you should find it.

yup…. Just a type-0…
Nice catch though

Found a fix to my problem. Re loaded flip for mac player which is free from microsoft!
Also https://perian.org/ has a swiss army knife for QT that seems to work very well.
Now everything is running fine.

here’s a trick I use. Make a separate folder in one of your copies of AE’s plug-ins folder. Call it 3rd party or something like that.
Now create an alias (mac) or a shortcut (windows) to that folder. Put the alias or the shortcut in your CS3 Plug-ins folder.
There you go. No duplicate files. Everything should work. If you’re on an Intel Mac and you really need a 3rd party plug-in that isn’t UB yet you can select the info for your AE CS3 app and check the Rosetta option, then open AE. Your plug-ins will show up. So far for me everything that I’ve needed has worked just fine, ae just isn’t as fast.

I think this is about the only time you should use the fit command. Corner pin works best whe the footage is the same size as the comp. drop your plate image in a new same size as your project comp. use ctrl+aalt+f or cmnd+option+f to fit the plate to the comp. Drag this comp into the main comp and use it as the source for the corner pin. Everything should work just fine.

You’ll find animated gif under the format options in the output module. I’m not sure it’s what you want. gifs have very limited colors and get huge very quick. Most folks have QT, which will give you best quality. there’s also windows media. If you go with a gif the design must be very simple, the colors simple, and the expectations of how it will look must be lowered. gifs also do not support audio.
