    Hi There:

I’m trying to get a bunch of text phrases that I have flying around in a Composition to “flock” together to form an image. I have tried to use a time-reversed Shatter effect to do this, but the problem is that Shatter shatters not only the text phrases, but also the letters that make them up. Ideally I would like to keep these various phrases intact and just have them fly inward to eventually form into a complex shape.

Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish this? Or alternate approaches not using Shatter that would allow a field of dozens flying words to coalesce into a shape?

    Thanks much for any advice!

ayatoweb.com has several tutorials that involve text or partcles that come together to form an image (or break apart in to particles). he often uses text as a particle. most of them are towards the bottom of the page.

i think if you were to put your phrases, evenly spaced, into a grid, you could then try card dance to break the ‘phrase grid’ up. you can use a n image map to displace and rotate the phrase cards, animating the multiplier to have them come together.

you could also use card wipe, and animate the jitter properties.

you can use shatter, but you would need a custom shatter map of the phrases, and i’m not sure how you could keep each phrase together….

you can keep the letters together in shatter by using the type as a custom shatter map. Do a search for shatter text and you should find it.

Thanks to you both for the advice, really appreciate it. I’m playing around with using card dance to do it and will also try custom map
