The only good way that I’ve found to reinstall or go back to a previous version of QT is to reinstall the operating system, then when you run the updates, just update to the version that you’re looking for.

I would suggest using QT 7.2 with FCP 5.0.4

Most of the time when I’ve had sync issues, it’s been drive/system speed related. You might try digitizing on a different computer if you can. Or repairing permissions on your current system. Or using Disk Warrior to rebuild the directories on your capture drive.

I’m not familiar with the issues of Canon vs. Panasonic, but that’s a possibility. Can you capture using a different camera?

I don’t know what exactly is causing your problem, QT or FCP, but to answer your question, the two ways I know of to revert back to a previous version of QT is to either reinstall your operating system or use time machine (10.5 only). There might be another way, but I would think that you risk making your operating system semi unstable if you just start deleting anything that says QuickTime.

I’ve thought that the current implementation of the columns has been a weakness in FCP for quite sometime. It wouldn’t take much to change it to be rocking!

For you, the idea of having a project template that has those columns already changed sounds like a great idea and good solution for now.

It could be an update like FCP 4.5 was. Free, but still an upgrade.

But here is my dream list for fun:

-R3D Red support for color and FCP
-PRORES 444 specifically for finishing from RED (why would they call PRORES “422” if there wasn’t going to be a ProRes 444)
-Advanced Blu-ray authoring in DVDSP
-Upgraded the columns in FCP to be easier to use
-2:3 pulldown adding, detecting and removing in FCP
-True project sharing with FCP Server

I disagree. There will need to be a major update to DVDSP to support new Blu-ray authoring functionality. I also think that Color and FCP need some updates. I would also expect Apple to have extensive support for the RED ONE.

We could also see the new Shake this year too, but that’s probably still up in the air.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion.

I use 1280×720 square pixels for 720P and 1920×1080 square pixels for 1080P regardless of what the working format is. FCP has adjusted the image to match the squence.
