Audio severely out of sync upon capture
Hello There,
I’ve been having a weird issue while digitizing tapes shot on the Canon H1 camera at 29.97, 48khz. I used the Panasonic DVX100 to digitize the footage and the problem is that the audio is severely out of sync. There doesn’t even appear to be an even drift allowing me to re-sync the audio every ten minutes or so. The audio is completely out of whack. Also, once the footage is captured the clip settings say that the audio rate is at 48033.5Hz which also boggles me.
Instead, it almost seems like audio and video frames are being dropped. The video appears to be in sync for the first few seconds and then dramatically looses sync. The audio sounds a bit distorted and crackly.
I read in a related post that this could either be the cause of low drive space or the famed Panasonic vs. Canon incompatibility debate. We’ve been using the same method when capturing our regular footage all shot on Panasonics and digitized with Panasonic equipment and everything appears to be fine. We also have enough drive space so that we shouldn’t be losing frames.
I’ve never encountered this problem while using the same brand equipment and we’ve been digitizing footage on regular basis for 5 months now.
Anyone have any thoughts?
