In response to Bob’s comments it should be noted that file sharing is far from a perfect solution. I did it for about 8 months and it was problematic. It worked for the projects at the time, but since we’ve upgraded to XSAN and a XserveRAID. It’s been rock solid.

In the browser, can you change the pixel aspect ratio column to what they were by right clicking and changing it? I’m guessing all of them are being interpreted as square. What is FCP seeing the pixel aspect ratio as right now?
I’m not sure that would change the final result of what happens in the timeline though. The best option might be to just change the actual frame resolution in photoshop to reflect the desired pixel aspect ratio.

This might be a little risky, but you could open media in QT player and delete the audio track that you don’t need. Then reconnect it in FCP and media manage.
Other wise, FCP will just export all of the audio channels of the original files.

It’s a big convention in Las Vegas in April. Apple has traditionally made FCP announcements at the convention.

The Kona LHe is a great card from a great company. Very reliable.
As far as the JVC monitor goes, I’ve heard good things about it, but I haven’t used it for grading yet.

I don’t know of any solution that shares over gigabit ethernet and FW800 or eSATA. Nor have I tested using gigabit ethernet drives for video. I’d also like to know how they perform if anyone has specs on that.

You’d probably get better performance if you created a RAID in the Mac Pro using 3 SATA drives, then used file sharing to allow the laptops to connect over gigabit ethernet.
That way, the Mac Pro doesn’t create a bottle neck on the gigabit ethernet cable because the drives are local.
Just don’t open the same project on different computers:)

If you have either a AJA or Blackmagic card in your computer, you can change your output settings to be 29.97 and when you make your master, it will automatically add the 2:3 pulldown for you.

The latest update, 6.0.2 isn’t backwards compatible with 6.0.1 or 6.0. Check to see what version of FCP you’re using. So if you open an 6.0 project in 6.0.2, it will give you that warning.
As far as the audio goes, try turning off the video output by going to VIEW-VIDEO PLAYBACK-NONE. Did that fix it?
