I have FCP6. I edited a bunch of stuff before Christmas but haven’t done anything since. I tried to open a project today and it says I had a newer version of FCP and did I want to upgrade my project file. I’ve seen that before, but usually when I knowingly go from one version to another. I always just download my updates without looking at them – was there a significant update?

Also, when I said yes and went into my project, I no longer had sound (the levels are moving but I can’t hear sound. I can hear sound out of other programs…. ). It worked fine a month ago. Any idea what’s up?

The latest update, 6.0.2 isn’t backwards compatible with 6.0.1 or 6.0. Check to see what version of FCP you’re using. So if you open an 6.0 project in 6.0.2, it will give you that warning.

As far as the audio goes, try turning off the video output by going to VIEW-VIDEO PLAYBACK-NONE. Did that fix it?
