    Rich –

Thanks for the detailed info. I had resisted moving this to a PC and using the Windows encoder, thinking it would be faster to stay on my Mac, but, after screwing around for three days with this, I realize that was totally foolish.

    I’ll try you suggestions.

Again, thanks for the help. This is exactly what I was after!

Yup! They are very sure of how not to do it!

Though I will commiserate with clients. It’s very confusing. I yearn for the “gimme a VHS” days. Now everyone wants 14 versions of every project in different formats. Then there are the inevitable calls from clients saying , “I can’t play it on my computer…” Yea, I have time for that!

    Cheers!

    David –

I am doing this because that’s what the client wants. Trust me, this is not
my idea and we have tried to change his mind, but he is a Windoz guy and will
    not budge.

    sigh…

I can’t wait for solid state!

It is coming. At some point, not too long from now, your thumb drive won’t just have a few files which you’re sneaker netting around the facility, but all your projects and media.

    David –

Thanks. I’ll run some tests in the AM and see if that fixes it. Meanwhile, I’ll do
    more housekeeping!

    Guys –

Thanks. Yea, I don’t use the direct-export-via-compressor much either, but, as it turns out, I couldn’t get a non-dependent QT to encode either. Very weird. Luckily it’s a short one-off project. And I’ll check out those threads on “Operation Not Allowed!” Aren’t error message helpful?!

    June 2, 2006 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Importing a PPT…argh

    Hi all –

Thanks for lots of great advice. I am in the process of using the Keynote approach,
as there were a lot of overalls and animations of tiny (too thin!) lines which would
not work if it just imported the PNGs or TIFs…

I agree with the concept that PPTs are dicey; this project should certainly have
been edited just like anything else…but there was no time to go back to that step…

Hope everyone has a great weekend…and that is doesn’t involve cutting anything more
    difficult than the grass!

Sorry about the stupid title the first time 🙂

But the query remains; if I include FCP markers in a timeline and export
using Flip4Mac WMV encoder, will those markers be able to be read by someone
using that file on a streaming server? They apparently want to encode the one long timeline, then use these marks to jump around..
