    Hi –

I’m an old Avid guy, and I am stumped by a matting issue. I have a Photoshop fix that I want to overlay on a live action product shot, but the matte needs to adjust as a door is opened on the product. I have tried the Bezier Matte tool but it seems incredible clumsy and buggy. Is there another way to approach this? A plugin that is more intuitive and allows me to move points interactively?

    Thanks!

    Ron

Try the 8 point garbage matte.

For this kind of quick & dirty roto job, I’d export the clip to motion, do the roto there, & import the Motion project back into FCP. It’s an extra couple of steps, but the mask tools in Motion are waaaaay better than they are in FCP.
