Try Nodes – “Disable All”/”Enable All”.

The shortcut for that is “Up” and “Down” arrow.

Try clicking on the node graph area to get keyboard focus perhaps.

When you delete a clip from the media pool, normally it leaves the corresponding entry in the master session so all the grades with that clip don’t get lost. If you have any EDL events conforming to this clip, it will show as Blue Crosses. It tells you that you had a clip earlier which conformed to this event, but it’s been removed from the media pool.

Now if you add a newer version of that clip with matching timecode extents, it will replace the orphaned clip in the master session, and you will recover all the grades and timeline information automatically. This is quite useful for replacing individual shots with newer versions of the shots from VFX. Of course, you can add both versions, and use the Conflict Resolution window to resolve the conflicts.

If you want to delete the clip, and also delete the corresponding entry in the master session, there is an option to delete from master session as well.

A Red Cross means there is no matching clip in the media pool and/or the master session.

    Rohit

The file will be read at your current decode setting irrespective of what is shown in the media pool.

Resolve even supports clips with mixed resolution, e.g. a 4K DPX sequence with 2K DPX files for some sections. So don’t worry about the resolution you see in the Media Pool.

It is recommended to use Quarter Res (for CPU only decodes), or Half Res (for Rocket systems) when adding the clips in the Media Pool.

    Hi Thibault,

Could you please contact Resolve support at davincihelp (at) blackmagic-design.com?

After you try to load the project and it crashes after 99%, please capture the logs using the /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/CaptureLogs.app.

    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi Kevin,

A fix for this issue will be available in the next release.

    Meanwhile, this is a workaround:

    In Preferences:

In Debug settings, add the following line:

    DPDecoder.Count = 0

You will need to save, and restart Resolve.

Please remember to remove this line once you have updated to the next release, as this will decrease the CPU based decode speeds for Red files.

    Regards,
    Rohit

    >>Currently I have one monitor attached to the GT120 as per manual but I am used to work with dual screens and would like to use it with other software.
Will it effect the Resolve performance when I attach a monitor to the GTX285?

We recommend connecting the 2nd monitor to the 2nd port of the GT120 card. You will need a mini-displayport to DVI adapter. You should not connect anything to the GTX285 card, especially the monitor which is running the Resolve GUI.

    >> I am using a REDrocket card and was trying to find the best realtime performance. It seems that the REDrocket setting are effecting the playback speed too. But not in a linear way. Using 4K RED material for a 2K timeline, it seems that matching the timeline resolution in the rocket (half debayer-good) gives realtime, when I go up to full debayer it slows down (sound logical) but even when I set it to a quarter debayer it also slows down. My guess that the realtime playback goes when Resolve has to resize?
How are they connected and what is effecting what?

When using a Red rocket on Mac, I would recommend using Half Res Premium, and set the system/timeline resolution to whatever you are finishing at.

October 13, 2010 at 3:26 am in reply to: Workflow for generating selects/retransfer tape?

    Hi Adam,

Yes you should be able to Power Master as well in source mode. If you want handles, you will have to use the “Create Session with Handles” function in the conform page to create the heads and tails.

Please remember to use the Assemble mode as you will be regenerating timecode on tape. Also there is a checkbox to output source timecode instead of record timecode.

If you still have issues, please send details/logs at our support email address, and we can look into it further.

    Regards,
    Rohit

October 12, 2010 at 9:30 am in reply to: 2 quick questions

    Hi Vladimir,

Try Cmd+PgUp, Cmd+PgDown for A/C mode switch. Also in the menu, there is an option for Timeline Mode.

Regarding your R3D copy, the only way to do this currently is if you want to render it out as DPX. Use split and add to add the sections of R3D you are using, and render out in source mode to the new drive.

October 12, 2010 at 3:05 am in reply to: Workflow for generating selects/retransfer tape?

    Hi Adam,

This is one of the workflows used quite commonly:

    1. Use the Split and Add option to add the media, and choose the number of handles you want. Please make sure the conform options are setup correctly before this step. (This step is optional, and you can add everything in the media pool if you like)
    2. Create master session (will have everything in media pool)
    3. Load EDL/audio, etc. and grade that
    4. Switch back to master session (your grades are linked back to master session)
    5. Render in Source mode. It will render out with source timecode on the shots so that the clips can be used for conform later.
    6. In the Deck page, right-click and add the rendered folder for Batch Output
    7. Use the Batch Output function with chosen heads and tails, and lay off the clips to the tape. It will lay off the clips in source order.

You mention you had some issues recording to your A500 digi-beta. Please send us the logs at davincihelp (at) blackmagic-design.com. The logs can be captured using /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/CaptureLogs.app.

    Regards,
    Rohit
