For Red clips, if you are getting a conflict, it’s most probably because you haven’t enabled the reel number option for conforming. So Resolve relies only on timecode, and it might give multiple matches, hence the conflict.
For Red files:
1. In the Config Page, Project Tab, Timeline Conform Options, enable “Assist using reel numbers from the:” checkbox.
2. Choose the 3rd option, “Embedding in source clip file”
3. In the Config Page, Settings Tab, Project Settings, enable “Extract reel names from EDL comments” (if required)
4. It is important to set these before adding the files to the media pool.
5. Also, please choose the correct timecode type for Red files in the Source Tab. You have 3 options: Camera, Absolute (Time of Day) and Edge. You need to match what was chosen on the edit system to generate the timeline.
The best way to verify this is to look at the Conform page. In the “Conform EDL” window, at the bottom, the Src In and Src Out timecode should match what you have in the media pool. Also, the Reel should match what is shown in the clip browse window on the browse page.

Hi Glenn,
Could you please send us both the EDL/AAF, as well as a screenshot of the Config/Browse/Conform page after you have loaded the material? Please send to davincihelp (at) blackmagic-design.com.
Thanks,

You can use Offline Wipe, and one of the wipe modes where you see an overlay of the wiped images over the live image to do this.
Quick steps:
1. Grab a still
2. Activate your wipe (Play Still)
3. Toggle Wipe Mode to Offline (Gallery->TimeLine->Offline)
4. Toggle Wipe Shape to Wipe-MOf course this is assuming you have the offline clip set up correctly in the conform page.

Are you using v7.0.2?
If yes, could you capture logs using the Capture Logs app in /Library/Application Support/BlackMagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/ and send to our support email – davincihelp (at) blackmagic-design.com
Please capture the logs immediately after you have the problem.
If not, please upgrade to v7.0.2 and see if that fixes this issue.

This is happening because the grade is stored with the source clip in the master session. This is done so that when your edit changes, you just load a new EDL, and you get all your grades in the correct place. Also, it allows you to switch back to the master session and render out the source media.
There are 3 ways to solve this problem:
1. You can use the Split and Add function to split up the source clips before adding into the media pool. You can choose handles in-case your edit changes to cover a longer section of the source clip.
2. You can use the “Local Version” for grades which will let you store the grade with the EDL itself, instead of pointing back to the “Master Session” (Remote Version). The easiest way to do this is to use the “Batch Copy” function, or “Batch Unlink” function. In this method, you lose the flexibility of going back to the master session to render, or re-load a new EDL. (You can still use the colortrace tool to preserve the grades across projects)
3. Add a new remote version for the EDL event you want to have a different grade for.

Resolve does not support “Frame Blending” speed change mode in FCP. It will repeat or drop frames to achieve the desired speed.

Thanks for the accurate description of the problem.
A fix for this issue will be available soon.
It has to do with full range vs video range of the source clip for YUV formats (e.g. ProRes422, MXF DNxHD, etc.). DPX, ProRes4444, etc. should not show this issue.

The best to achieve this is to use 2 HDLink Pro and load a LUT on each. If you are using Resolve to generate or tweak existing LUTs, they are saved in the .cube format which can be loaded on the HDLink Pro.

Here are the steps:
1. Create a new project
2. Add the pre-conformed clip (with the dissolves baked in etc) to the media pool
3. You probably want to have the option to “Split source clips for preconform” disabled (see more below about this option)
4. In the conform page click on the preconform button and choose the EDL which was used to conform the clip
5. you should see something like the example above
6. In the color page, grade and render the edl session (not the master). This allows you to grade across the dissolves nicely without having to insert keyframes for dynamics, etc.“Split source clips for preconform” – ON or OFF
The default and recommended option is to have this OFF. This allows you to add new versions of the pre-conformed clip easily, by removing the old one, and adding a new one. The screenshot above however was taken with this option being ON, therefore you see 2 clips in the master session.
Please note that if you get a new version of the clip with different edits (i.e. a new EDL), it would be better to create a new project, and then use colortrace to copy over the grades.
