I,ve had the same problem, when putting in, say a half shot shot, from the day before, and wanting to regen the TC.HDCAM has a switch on the side panel, put in the tape and hit return.
With the varicam I set the menu to Regen, put in tape, hit return… but no cigar?

I hope someone can tell us.Guys at the rental place didnt know either?

Wow so the HDX can shoot slo-mo like the varicam.Iam sure ,like alot of people ,anytime Ive shot slo-mo with the varicam I’ve shot at the maximum 60 fps.So if the same can be achieved with the 900,that must be a strong selling point.Wonder why they dont advertise it more….or is it not that simple?

Thanks for your reply. My question … not sure I put the right details….this isnt a video telepromter set up,but one of those clear screens, for speeches from lecterns.usualy there is one either side Iam told.
Anyway these people want to use ONE of those screens as a teleprompter ie infront of the camera lens.
So Iam wondering will this work.I can make the room dark, will light the subject, and have black drape for myself.
So my question was 1. Has anyone even done this 2 If so any advise.tips etc.

I,ve used a real made for video telepromter/atuo cue loads of times, but not one of these screens.

    Thanks again

    Hi Tony

So in the case of not being able to do tests,or extensive colour correction, you wouldnt advise film rec with the varicam for a tv project. And what you see on the monitor is not what you are getting?

I know you will say have an engineer, and a vector scope, and do tests 🙂 and ofcourse you are right, but maybe like some other people here I never have this luxury.I was also under the impression that film rec was just a nicer looking alternative to video rec.

At the risk of you taking a literal blow torch to my nether regions…..your thoughts?

    Thanks

haha well he did sort of know I think….but thought it was a grounding problem….which I last had aged 12 after pulling the head off my sisters doll.

Anyway yes next time it happens I,ll move the monitor!!

What is the actual technical reason for this?…in a form that idiots can understand

September 23, 2006 at 12:06 pm in reply to: Shooting for PAL and NTSC

Its a little different but stuff I have shot for nat geo with F900 that would eventually need a PAL version and an NTSC version, they requested 23.98p
Apparently this was an easy frame rate to get an NTSC,and a PAL version from. And that 30p/29.98/25/straight 24p were for some reason NG.

  • Hey no problem… it was a good call… my idea of a joke ..often isnt 😉
