UK union investigating six ex BBC cameramen with brain tumours
Posted by Michael Brennan on September 16, 2006 at 4:32 pmI’m posting this here as this list sems to have the most number of cameramen posting.
The UK union BECTU is asking its members if they have knowledge of any cameramen with brain tumours.
Apparently six ex BBC Pebble MIll cameramen have brain tumours, this is far beyond the normal occurance rate.
Have any trends been researched in other parts of the world?
It may be worth considering a scan on your next checkup 🙁

September 16, 2006 at 4:52 pmMichael,
I did some research on the effects of microwave exposure recently and found the results to include effects on the brain.
Were the six BBC cameramen exposed or worked close to microwave transmitters etc (ie handheld camera operator with microwave transmitter mounted onto camera)?

September 18, 2006 at 12:51 amSorry if I,ve offended anyone out there.Iam afraid its the (black) British humour (or not) that I was brought up with.
The (joke) wasnt ofcourse directed towards anyone with a brain tumour, more at the post itself.Did seem funny at the time…but maybe not so in the light of day.

September 20, 2006 at 5:34 pmDale is entitled to his opinion, but I thought it was funny. No apologies needed, laughter is a preventative for brain tumors.

October 26, 2006 at 9:51 pmthere are several editors/producers etc … from NBC affiliate Channel 12 here in phoenix that have had brain tumors, even though they were rarely around cameras. I think it’s microwave radiation, especially focused radiation in /near newsrooms.
