  • Ok great, thanks for both replies ..will check out the pod cast too

  • Ok thanks for the info.. sorry to pick your brains .. how do you decide the price then.. just compared to other people..

    Thanks

  • Is the cost calculated time wise i.e. shot length.. is there a max/min length .. is everything timelapse or did you find that sold the best..?

    Thanks

  • yes sorry cant answer that .. but pretty easy to shoot some test I would think.. as you did.. its a common mistake to think that tungsten lights wont flicker at HFR ,compared to the more obvious suspects.. the way around it is big lights.. big filament, that never has time to cool down enough..

you can only actually raise the noise level by over exposing the image.. say 1 or 2 stops and correcting in post.. your not changing the sensitively of the sensor..

What software you using to copy.. Hedge is alot quicker than anything else Ive ever used.. its changed that drag into a quick cafe latte and your out ..!

  • Tungsten lights do actually flicker and are not continuous .. they heat up and cool down.. the way to get rid of tungsten flicker is to have big light sources .. then the larger filament never actually cools down that much.. above 2K is safe.. ordinary bulbs will give you flicker as the filament is small..

  • Had this once.. it has to be something above the bubble level.. I had a bit of rub come loose from the plate that attached the camera to tripod plate.. and it got caught.. the bubble cant lie basically .. so must be something above it..

I think your only alternative is Sony USB reader.. if speed isn’t a problem.. I think they still sell the USB2 unit which is cheaper.. or try Sonnet express card reader.. its much cheaper but is TB .. so actually pretty fast.. !

Or just plug the camera directly into your PC by USB..

    Hi Ron

Slightly off point.. but like you I had a USB2 computer with the express card slot.. because the older reader was a pain with AC power and slow USB2.. but the USB2 of the computer out to HDD was very slow too.

I changed to an Airmac and the “newer” USB3 card reader.. which BUS powered and very fast.. no driver needed (mounts as a drive) and you have TB or USB3 outs.. if your thinking to “upgrade” Ive found this a good combination.. and only the UDF driver to update..
