Go back to your FCS2 disks.

could be out of phase music that shows up only there. If you think it’s in 5.1 (that would be a surprise) open it in STP and it should show.
I’d try other audio in the Dell to see what happens. If it plays elsewhere it indicates something odd with the Dells. You’re doing video,not IT

Never sure why people are so freaked about editing sound. It’s not like anything is going to explode.
Anyway. . . Just make sure everything is at the same frequency. 48, 44.1 whatever. Makes like simple. You can use MP3 especially in STP. How and what are you going to “edit?” Are you just syncing or actually editing the video? STP lets you move clips in subframe amounts, but don’t obsess about it.

You know, you could just edit in your native size NTSC SD and then do a send to compressor and let it resize to this wacky 1280×800 frame. Problem solved.

you can drop them into the same timeline. Then, of course, one will display in the incorrect aspect ration.
Decide on your final format/ration etc. Make the timeline (sequence) in that format. Then drop the clips into the timeline making sure to keep the sequence settings if it asks you to change them. Then use the motion tab to adjust the “bad” clip to the correct size/shape/framing.

use FCP 7. And use the ProRes Proxy for small size. It’s great. And you can reload at the even better ProRes compressions when you’re done. It solves a ton of problems.

a few weeks ago I got one of the Logitech MX Revolutions. It’s been very, very good. Their wireless is more snappy than the Mighty Mouse Bluetooth

try first linking the clips to each other. I think you can select them and make the a “stereo pair” if worse comes to worse. Then link them to the video.
