Thanks, that’s what we suspected and we already downloaded the drivers. I am wont to install new drivers on a working system/card. I am peeved that there’s nothing in the Apple documentation that mentions updating drivers to the Kona card or any other card for that matter. But now, thanks to this conversation, an answer will at least show up on the web. We updated the one machine and we’re capturing 422 Proxy right now.
This supports my position of not bothering to look at the software publisher’s manual for answers. The indexing is almost always terrible. It’s much easier to google a question and let google find the references in the manual, as well as what often turns out to be better results elsewhere.
Been off the Cow for far too long, since switching from Discreet to FCS. Time to be back in the pasture.
    Thanks much for the help.

without knowing the chain of events:
You might have changed the name of the drive, or even hit the “forget reconnecting to these files” button. Try selecting one of the clips in your show and “reconnecting Media” and then navigating over to your external drive.

Interesting because I just bit the bullet and upgraded two machines of four from 6 to 7. I’m nearing the end of a fairly large project (some 40 hours of mostly HDCam footage). 7 has some things I could use and I took the risk. So far no issues at all. I did one machine and opened the project on that one. It was just fine. And that machine (MacBook Pro) is running Snow Leopard. I went back to the other machine (8 core Mac Pro running Leopard) and opened it on 7 there. No issues. Of course it remains to be seen how stable it is in the long run. But most of the issues I’ve heard about have related to file based footage and not tape based.
And following on the suggestion of a startup disk: You could get a small USB external drive. Run Superduper to make a bootable clone of your startup drive. Then boot off of that. Install 7 on just one of them. Doesn’t hurt to have that backup anyway.

Just had the same problem trying to bring in HDV footage as HDV firewire. I hunted all over the capture window settings and there were no references at all to HDV, only DV, DVC Pro and then all the AJA settings for SD and HD. Then noting the post above I went to the Easy Setups. There I did find a setup for HDV, but it didn’t work. Turns out it was set for PAL instead of NTSC and a few other other subsettings. I corrected everything and it works fine now. I’m just looking for ways of bringing in lots of footage at low resolutions to work with. We have a lot of footage in full HDCAM 1920×1080, and then some HDV. I’m constructing a circuitous workflow that will let me capture 30 hours worth of footage while taking up only a small portion of my raid.
