    Thanks for the suggestions.

I was trying to determine why these sequences are not behaving as they should as far as right clicking for the pull down menu. I didn’t want to assume they were corrupted.

When I need to capture from a web stream which is not available as a download I use iShowU HD. Has worked great.

How about audio levels for the color bars versus what’s in the program?

September 15, 2007 at 2:56 pm in reply to: About Partitioning your RAID

One reason I partition the boot drive into 2 paritions, one for OSX/APP and one for DATA (for stuff like music libraries, SFX, countdown leaders, large app resources like Apple Loops), is so a complete cloning of the OSX/APP volume/partition goes much faster with the 80BG+ data on it’s own partition.

September 6, 2007 at 8:42 pm in reply to: looking for deals… MacPros

We have a new Mac Pro 8-core refurb from the Apple site. It came with an ATI X1900 card instead of the 7300GT card advertised. 🙂

I would also note, if you can hook up with an Apple Business Service Agent, there are discount coupons which can knock the Apple refurb price approx 5% lower.

I used one of the $2999 coupons for the 8-core I just bought.

One additional suggestion… Use the $$$ saved at the Apple refurb site to buy a 3 year AppleCare Warranty, just in case.

Maybe you could try running your disc utility, the verify disc operation and see what it reports.

    Craig…

Did you repair permissions while the volume was mounted as the OSX volume or while running from your Disk Warrior disc?

I ask because I tried running repair permissions while the volume was as OSX volume and CCC still failed in the same way.

I have heard deleting the offending pref files will also work, but I need to make sure this won’t affect the activation/deactivation status of AE8.

Thanks for your post. Maybe it’s time to pick up Disc Warrior. 🙂

September 2, 2007 at 6:09 am in reply to: BCC 4.1 installation woes — mac pro AE CS3

I have been getting the black “X” with BCC 5 EFX in CS3.

How do I uninstall BCC so I can do a complete reinstall? I ask because I believe the problem might be related to the BCC 5 install with AE 7, before I owned/installed CS3.

September 2, 2007 at 6:07 am in reply to: AE CS3 imports wrong layers from Photoshop???

I have noticed some .psd oddness in CS3. Layers disappearing or characteristics of masks changing. Quiting AE CS3 and restarting has cleared up the problem every time.

I’m not sure of the probelms have been creeping in when MultiProcessing is enabled or not.

September 2, 2007 at 6:04 am in reply to: Buying a MacPro … Should I get More CPU or More RAM?

Unless something changes, it will be easier to add more memory than increase the processor speed. So, I would get the fastest Mac Pro, and add more ram when I could afford.

Based on some early hacking of the 8-core processor on quad Mac Pros, I thought there might be a future for swapping in faster processors as they became affordable, but that possibly hasn’t materialize yet.

We have now bought 16GB of ram from OWC for our Mac Pro 8-core machines, and but for (1) 2GB stick OWC advance replaced, their cheap ram has been flawless. (knock on wood)

    Happy shopping

PS… I bought MY 8-core as an Apple Refurb and it came with the X1900 card instead of the 7300GT listed on the Apple website. 🙂
