I was able to run FCPro HD 4.5 and PCPro 5.04 before the install. I did not try running the version of FCPro on the crossgrade discs, I went immediately to the online upgrade. I didn’t even consider this might be a mistake.

After the 5.1.1 install, FCPro HD was removed from the applications folder on my primary boot volume. FCPro HD was also removed from woth a 10.4.7 and 10.3.9 clone boot volumes, and their FCPro apps were changed to 5.1.1.

I only slected the primary OSX boot vloume when I ran the installation. Perhaps I looked to briefly at a prompt which said it was going to do ALL of the FCPro apps it could find, but I did not notice…but maybe I missed.

I will try reinstalling FCPro from the crossgrade discs and running. If it works, I will try the ionline 5.1.1 upgrade and see what happens.

Are there any special deletion tips for starting with a fresh FCPro? I know I will find/delete the preference file, and toss the app. Please advise if there are any other goodies I should also toss.

May I add I think I have found a nice new way to grab encrypted goodies.

FairMount to mount the DVD as a decrupted volume icon on the decktop.
DVDxDVPro to access the VOB files, which allows for in/out edit points, batch capturing, and a wide range of QT movie format options.

I’m working on a wedding video for my sister, and I have had a tough time getting a couple of goofy things off of our commercial DVDs. I tried using HandBrake, which works great if .mp4 will do. However, I wanted to avoid a 2nd level of batch recompression or long importing and the new method above seems to be a great method.

DVDxDVPro is a commercial program that would not read a commercial DVD alone, but with the FairMount decyption plug, I can now access DVDs other than my client projects DVD masters.

May I also say, there is a difference between ripping to the Apple Intermediate Codec and any of the DV/DVCPro/DVCPro50 formats. I get alot of alaising with the DVD codecs. I test rendered to a couple of uncompressed codecs, and the Apple Intemediate Codec appears as clean but much smaller in size.
