Can Cinema 4D import AutoCAD data directly? Or can it at least import DXF files exported from AutoCad?

In other words, which one provides more compatibility with the CAD type programs?

Is your sequence 486? It sounds almost like a field order problem. If you are sending a 486 clip to iDVD it might just crop 3 tip and 3 bottom, or worse, scale down the 6 lines to 480 which will cause the problem you describe. It doesn’t sound like compression artifacts, but field order to me.

You keep saying Avid DV format, or is it the Meridien codec? Is your sequence 720 x 486? If so, you cannot directly create an Avid DV clip since that is 720 x 480. You will get an error on export.

If your sequence is 720 x 480 and you are trying to make an Avid Meridien clip (486) you will also get an error.

This is a major pain. I believe they will fix it someday, but for now this is another “normal” condition that makes Final Cut a little less “Pro.”

Looks like a lot of gear within earshot…I like my decks and PC’s and especially that jet engine Adrenaline box far away…or in a vented enclosure. I built a custom desk a lot like yours with a cabinet under the desk with big smoked doors on the front. On the back I had three big fans that blew into the wall cavity and up into the prehung ceiling area. With the doors open it was plenty noisy…closed it was peaceful.

But I love the curvy desk…good fung shuei.

    Enjoy.

Or you can save the reference clip and open it in QT Player and export to MPEG2 from there.

    Just another step…

But doesn’t that yield a letterboxed clip? Try nudging up or down the scaled and cropped clip one pixel and see if that cleans it up.

December 1, 2005 at 4:13 am in reply to: FCC endorses “personalized Cable TV”

Isn’t it about choice? If you want the four “biggie” netoworks and ESPN you can buy it that way. And pay less than the Basic Cable package. But, if you want, you can still buy the package deals if you want. I understand that they just want viewers to only buy what they want, even if it costs more. But the packages will, and probably always will, exist. I see it as a win for consumers, and possibly the cable companies, except their billing systems will have to add a new level of complexity.

In the Charter tiers, there is a Family Programming package that has several NickJr kids channels, Noggin’ etc, but also has a bunch of lame extra news channels I never watch. Would have been nice to have an option just to pick up the two kids channels my kids watch than to have to choose a package I don’t want.

They might even cut the cost on their packages to keep viewers buying them. Wouldn’t bother me at all. : )

Motion has a preset for snow…it is wispy and swirly and wonderful. Render out a 10 second clip or longer with alpha…bring it into AE and layer it up with a couple different scale sizes. Looks great. I even combined it with Boris Continuum Snow generator to make it really natural.

I like the Motion preset however…

There is also a deflicker filter right in FCP that renders fast and has three levels of adjustment. Works pretty good as well.
