Have you tried fixing the bottom row of points and turning up the wind power and direction (cloth tag:forces)? Then your sword/cylinder collider is at the same Y axis as the bottom row of points.

I also got the effect by using a belt from the bottom points and connecting to a cube that i then key framed to wrap up and over the curtan rod. This method took far more effort to get the hanging look.

    /good luck,
    Randy

Try using the belt option…you get more control than colliders.
You will still need the colider on the cutan rod though.

The AO gives a self shadow. Mostly visable in cracks and where objets touch.
In this case you have to have a floor to catch the reflection.
You may want to use a composite tag and turn off recieve shadows rather than a sky object to keep your scene small and if you ever want more objects in the scene.
In order to pervent over exposing things try excluding them from the light. (Found in the attrubutes manager of the light under the scene tab)

You can control the direction of the engraving by using ie.-3 or 3 one wil indent the other will extrude.

here is a file that shows how I would set it up. Sorry if it doesnt fit your looking for.

Have you tried making a poly selection.

in polygon mode highlight the polys you want then go to selection: set selection.
then you get a orange triangle beside the object then asign that poly selection to the texture.
You can assign more than one Selection to a polygon.

here is a file showing how i would approach it:

the key part is ambiant occlusion…in theis scene I used the global AO in the render settings but there are other ways of applying it that will speed up render times a lot.

Take your logo (with alpha) and put it into the displacement part of the material…then in displacment turn on sub-poly displacement
