Well depends what you want…but I would say the most standard way to approach a logo is getting a spline outline and extruding. So you want to get a Vectorizer from Object:Spline Primitives:Vectorizer
Then in the attribute manager (bottom right) With the vectoirzer selected you can select a “texture” in the object tab click on the three … to browse. Then take that and place it in an extrude nurbs.

Another option that may get what you are looking for is simply make a texture. Create a new material. Then in color or tab open the drop menu labeled “texture” and choose load image. Do the same in the alpha to loose the back ground.

Are you loading it into cinema with the material editor?

Sorry i didnt mean to go over your head.
For an extremely simple overview of c4d animation Lynda.com is alright but is not free.

    other sources that may help:

Basic animation (key framing and F-curves tut. here:

    Good starter rigging tutorial:

Here is one for the range mapper. Its a good tutorial for all levels. If you dont want to use xpresso its still good to see.

If we are talking about a robots from matrix yes IK is going to be perfect in addition to contraints and a little xpresso. If you made a Wall-E looking guy you are not going to need IK at all. You will be looking more at xpresso and the range mapper.

Joints and IK tags are only one of many options for animating.
I posted a file with a couple basic examples. Maybe you can get your own ideas from it.

    Yep,
load it into a material like you would a bit map. Then in the material editor you can adjust the timing from the Animation tab.
When using it for ref. I would load it to the luminace…but it does’nt really matter.

    Rotoscope it in AE.
Sandwich the keyed material and rotoscope the top layer.

If you have Cinema installed on the Boxx you can just open and render the files there. I do that between my laptop and Work station a lot… never seen any issues beyond fonts not being installed or plug Ins. Just save a project file so you get all the textures in the same folder.

The neon bulb is rarely the biggest part of a sign. There is nearly always a background that is lit along with it.
Are you using it for animation too, cause that will bring with it the wonderful flicker too.
