October 13, 2008 at 12:47 pmyep, is it a “real” arm you want to strech or a cg character?

October 14, 2008 at 6:01 amDepending how the arm moves and level of detail its really about compositing.
I actually say the demo reel of a guy who made a couple shots of that arm but I cant find the link now.
Simply put make a fully rigged arm stretch and animate it and composite it over the video. You will need multiple rigs in various length and flexabilty. I suggest a spline IK for the long one and adding alot of stretch in the short one.
good luck,

October 15, 2008 at 4:17 amI don’t know about the new MOCCA joints, but stretching via IK used to be a matter of adjusting how strongly bones were ‘attached’ to eachother. Also, the density of oyour polys may need to be adjusted depending on what part of the figure is going to be bent and how. Just some thoughts… (I’m still using v.8)

I found a screen shot of an arm I streched a while back when i was learning joints. I couldnt find the working file though. The original rig ended around the elbow in this picture.
