If they play OK in DV (even if they look bad) go ahead and edit in DV. When you got everything ready just change the setting of your sequence to a better codec before to render. About the JPEG that you get from PS and the Photo-jpeg in QT, I’m not sure that is exactly the same codec, so I thinc the rendering is unavoidable.

Hi,
You mean when a tape is rewinded in a video-desk? When you do that (using the shuttle of a BetacamSP for example in RW or FFW) the video-heads start to pass partialy on top of few video-tracks (in B-Cam every video track is a field) instead of one at the time. As more you push the shuttle, more tracks are scanned and you get the image replicated in vertical in your screen normally separeted by black-gray semy-horizontal. That toguether with a certain skew and the loos of color. You can try inverting the clip and applying in different chops different speeds (to simulate the changes in the shuttle) and the REPLICATE filter (In the STYLIZE folder). Apply some distort (like a trapezoyd) and some black borders to the image to imitate the “vertical syncs’ appearing in the screen). And B&W, and some noise..and imagination. You can get it.

Up to the article in the Adobe b=web site, it should be possible to export from FC To Flash Video having the necesary components, but I swear that I have never heard of nobody in this forum doing that. As Shane sugest Sorenson Squeeze is one of the most widely used application to do that task. AutoDesk Cleaner is another classic.

How do you have your monitor conected to your Mac? Monitors do not need a black-burst but a stable video signal to be in sync. A black-burst is mainly used to yinc desk, studio cameras (gen-lock) etc. The BlackMagic for instance have a black-burst generator mainly used to get in sync the desk used to capture. The video-out of the video card (HDI,SDI, RGB, Components, Composit..) that you swith to the monitor should keep it in sync.

Your quetion is not very clear for me. What do you want to get a (ie) from a NTSC (6oi) a 60p? you can do it with FC. But if you got SHAKE you can do it better. In the “file-in’ node open the “timing” tab and select “Convert”. Them choose the format of your clip and the frame-rate of the out-put you want.

Try the Compressor presets QT 7 compatible. They use the h.264 codec whichs offr better quality than the Sorenson3.

That is what you get when you export from FC “Only Audio’. Is just a PCM with a .mov extension.

You can get Noise and Scratches even in the QT player. Is one of the filters abailables when exporting .mov. But if you want something more elaborated, have a look to MagicBullet or the Nattress Film Effectsor any other of the film-like effect packages.

In theory 24 images shoud take less memory than 30 (60i) even with the pull-down (in the end the pull-down is a way to conbine fields from different frames, but you end up with the same number of pictures). But think that when working with DV we are in the what is call the “25Mbps”. Is the same that you are using MiniDv, DVCam, DVCPro25..PAL or NTSC. These formats work with the same data-rate. So basically we get the same 3.5M per second of footage.

If you just burn a VIDEO_TS folder, you got everything in your DVD, but it doesn’t play. Unless you do it with Toast, which has this option (DVD video from TS).
