QA is an abbreviation for Quality Assurance. We have a group of “QA” engineers whose job it is to rigorously test all of our software before it is released. I checked with them and they tell me that the current version of RED 4 will operate as expected in Vegas Pro 9.

So the filter that you are looking for, Extruded EPS, is currently in the final stages of internal testing and should be made ready for general release shortly. I’ll let you know as soon as it is available.

Okay … so the word that I got back from engineering is that the Extrude EPS and the Swish Pan filters are registration incentives … they are not made available in BCC 6 until the software is licensed.

Hope this helps to explain the absence of these filters from your system.

You can control this behavior in the Compression Settings dialogue box, which is in the menu that appears when you select export movie file. If you want to include the transparency from the comp then select a codec that supports alpha and set it to millions of colors plus.

Hi Peter,

So … RED includes with BCC 4 filters preinstalled. You can use them from within RED in the FCP or the AE timeline from within the RED application.

You say that you purchased BCC 5 AE on the 17th of march … I think this means that you should be eligible for the free upgrade to BCC 6 but I’m not 100 percent certain on that – that’s a question for someone in sales to clarify. I’ll check into that for you and let you know what they have to say on Monday.

BCC 6 AE will plug-into RED and also can be used in the FCP or AE timeline. And of course you can use the BCC 6 filters in the RED standalone engine.

And yes, I work for Boris FX – I’m a Senior Product Manager at the company and have been there for 10 years. 🙂

Hi Alex,

I’m not sure what the problem is – I just tried that on my system and it appeared to correctly adjust the PAR when I toggled the Square Pixels option in the Preview menu.

Can I ask you to please call this into support by sending an email to: support@borisfx.com describing the issue that you are having with the app. I’m sure someone there can assist you in sorting this out.
