• are you sure that you are clicking on the track monitor button in the timeline?
• is this a new problem?
• if it is new, what has changed on your system?
• what host are you using and on what platform?
• does the effect look correct in the main preview composite window?

As long as you have the RED 4x serial number installed on that system, the license should carry forward automatically. The 4.3.2 update is free to 4.x users. You may need an unlock code to run the product installer but this should be sent automatically to the address that you used when downloading the 4.3.2 software.

So regarding the generation of Boris transitions in FCP … if you’re using RED then the workflow that you describe remains the only option. If you’re using BCC, which uses the FCP interface, then you (obviously) don’t need to launch another application to customize the transition. We’re also working on some new transitions (BCE) that will be included in the BCC 6 FxPlug release that you might enjoy using. You can download and try the public beta version of this software for free. It is available on our website here https://www.borisfx.com/fxplug_public_beta.php

Hi,

If you are using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.0 then you will not be able to install Graffiti or FX into Premiere Pro. We are waiting for an update to CS4 from Adobe to enable Graffiti and FX to run in Premiere Pro on a Mac.

Don’t do to the update section but instead download the trial version. You should find 4.3.2 up there. It’s a very recent update, which might explain why it is not in the update section yet.

While we do our best to keep up with the latest cards and drivers from ATI and Nvidia, and are unaware of any problems or conflicts with the current version of RED (4.3.2), you are using RED 3, which is several years old at this stage. I would like to suggest that you download RED 4.3.2 and see if this works better for you.

Please bear in mind that RED 3 was never designed to be used on the current line of MacPro systems, as the Intel based Macs were not in production at that time. RED 3 was designed for the current systems at the time of the RED 3 release, which was on the Apple platform the PowerPC chip set with up to and including Mac OS 10.4.

I believe the version of RED that you are using is slightly out of date – can you please download the latest version, install it onto your system and see if this solves the problem?

I believe that the Color Finesse plug-in was a little problematic insofar as bringing up the interface for the filter. If it’s important to your workflow to use this filter in RED then I would like to ask you to please send in a detailed report to support@borisfx.com and we’ll see if there is a way that we can engineer a solution for the next update of RED.
