Well you’re going about it the right way, which is pickwhipping the 3D objects to a null and then using the null to control the 3D camera move.
You need to make sure that you are pickwhipping the right camera property though – to create the effect that you want you need to set the built-in camera in both the 3D Text and 3D EPS to “Orbit” and link the tumble/spin/rotate camera parameters via the pickwhip to the null x/y/z rotation parameters.

Peter.

HI Tom,
I fully expect that we will be able to fix this issue – I should know for sure by end of day tomorrow.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Tom,
We have an engineer looking into a solution and hope to have that sorted out soon. Thanks for mentioning this problem to us.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Dan,
Well currently it’s not possible to use the 3D Objects filters in RED 4. I’m sure we’ll have that sorted out for the next major update to RED, which would be RED 5. The problem is that the 3D Objects filters utilize a newer technology that is yet to be supported in RED.

Peter.

Hi Theo,
To the best of my knowledge, nothing has changed with regard to the Vegas host passing the plug-in any sequence data / alternate frames in time. Until that happens we can’t perform the stabilization. You can stabilize the clip using RED in standalone mode though, but you probably know this already.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi,
Are you using the BCC AE 6.0.1 version that we released yesterday (Tuesday) morning or the version that we released earlier this year? If you have not already done so, I would highly recommend updating to the latest BCC AE 6.0.1 to see if this resolves the problem that you are experiencing.
If you are still seeing this problem even after the update, please let us know so that we can work to resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Peter.

Hi,
You can use the page up and page down keys to perform this function. Page down to move forward in time, page up to move backward in time.
There are also buttons at the bottom of the comp window that you can use to play/step 1 frame/step 10 frames in either direction as well as move to start / end.
By the way, you can customize all of the keystrokes in RED to suit your workflow. This is done by selecting the shortcuts option from the Boris RED pulldown menu.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Chris,
Please send me the Illustrator file and I’ll sort it out for you. You can send that to me via email at peterm@borisfx.com.
A couple of things to bear in mind when preparing Illustrator files for BCC Extrude EPS …
• delete extraneous paths, including any unfilled bounding box(es) that may be present
• delete any mesh warps
• gradient fills in Illustrator will become solid fills in BCC – safer to convert them in Illustrator
• convert fonts into outlines (not absolutely necessary but advisable)
• if you are using a .ai file to extrude, save it as Illustrator v8
• scale the Illustrator file to a large size in Illustrator – bigger is better than smaller with vector art in BCCI hope this helps,
Peter.

Hi,
I was able to reproduce this problem exactly as you had described and will ask engineering to work on a solution.
Thanks,
Peter.

Hi,
This is the first time that I have heard of this issue – I’ll try to reproduce it on one of the systems in our labs. If I understand you correctly, to reproduce the problem I need to slide a clip in the timeline away from the start of the comp, then add a BCC filter and keyframe the effect. Is that correct?
Thanks,
Peter.
