Well the plug-ins should exist in c:Program FilesAvidAVX2_Plug-Ins so if they are not there then re-installing the Avid software simply blew them away. If they are there then the link to the MC may have been damaged when you re-installed the Avid. Either way, it wouldn’t hurt to reinstall the plugs.

If after re-installing the plug-ins you are still having trouble locating the filters in the Avid then feel free to contact our support department for further assistance. You can reach them via email at support@borisfx.com.

Hi Matthew,

The animate / static button should be RED when it is enabled. It should be enabled if you need keyframes. Also, you should probably go into the Keyframe Preferences and make sure that you have set the default interpolation to something other than Constant. Constant sets a constant state for the parameter and will eliminate any other keyframes in the effect for that parameter.

Boris Blue: Custom UI, windows based 3D Graphics solution that can be used standalone or as a plug-in. Full-time OpenGL for preview and final render with 3D particle effects, extruded text with real-time warp deformers/shaders, 3d model import, type-on text auto-animations.

Boris Graffiti: Custom UI, cross platform vector titling plug-in solution. Included as a part of RED.

Boris FX: Custom UI, cross platform special effects plug-in solution. Included as a part of RED.

BCC: Native UI, cross platform special effects and 3D titling filters that plug-in to compositing and NLE systems. Many, but not all, BCC filters are included with RED.

FEC: Native UI, cross platform special effects and 3D titling filters that plug-in to compositing and NLE systems. Some FEC filters are included with RED.

You can download for free, 14 day trial versions of all of this software from borisfx.com. The trial versions are fully functional and render without watermark of any kind. After the trial period has expired, a subtle watermark will appear in the composite window and final render.

Hi Steve,

I just opened the comp that you sent me in RED standalone on Windows XP and noted that the Smoothness pop-up for Motion Blur was set to Medium, wihch does not generate a photo-real result. I changed it to High on both tracks and the result looks good to me. Can you please try that and let me know if this solves the problem on your system?

Hi Steve,

You need to be sure to set the following to have motion blur on the text that is being controlled by the motion tracker filter:

• click on the text track and enable motion blur in the control panel
• click on the container track and enable motion blur in the control panel
• with the container track selected, set the “Apply Motion Blur To” Container, Faces and Filters

Hi George,

The speed of the zoom is controlled by the space between the keyframes on the timeline. Move them closer together (click and drag the keyframe in the timeline window) to speed up the animation.

Hi George,

There are several approaches that you can take. You can use the Scale parameter to make the letters zoom up in size or you can use the Z position parameter to make the letters zoom in. Or you can use Opacity to fade the text in.

Set a keyframe for the text track’s scale, zoom or opacity parameter at the start of the effect and select Ease In / Out for the interpolation by clicking on the box next to the parameter. Go to the point where you want the text to stop moving, create a new keyframe and set the value that you want the text to have, again, setting the interpolation to Ease In / Out. This will result in text that moves smoothly at the start and end of the effect.
