BCC6 Extrude Spline
Posted by Seannon O’daniel on April 24, 2009 at 8:31 pmMaybe I have missed it but is there a way use this filter on a compound path from illustrator.
They import into AE as multiple masks.
Extruded Spline seems to only support a single path per application of the filter.
In this case I want to punch holes out of a extruded circle.

April 24, 2009 at 9:17 pmHi,
The answer is yes.
To do this, create the compound path object in Adobe Illustrator, then save it as an Illustrator eps file. This can be opened within the BCC Extruded EPS filter in AE, preserving the hole in the center of the object.
I hope this helps,
Peter.

April 24, 2009 at 9:23 pmMaybe I am missing a step or a plug-in.
I have a BCC Extruded Spline but no EPS. I think that is what you are talking about.
How do I open the EPS file with it?
I have tried to past the path from illustrator but still comes across as a compound path.

April 24, 2009 at 9:43 pmMake that….
I have tried to paste the path from illustrator but still comes across as a compound path (as multiple masks in difference mode).

April 24, 2009 at 10:35 pmI think the problem is that you need to download the latest version of BCC 6. We made an update that includes a couple of new filters – BCC Swish Pan and BCC Extruded EPS. It’s the Extruded EPS filter that you need to extrude the Illustrator EPS file with compound paths.
You can download the free update to the latest version here:

April 24, 2009 at 11:33 pmJust now downloaded the latest Mac version of the trial.
No SwishPan was installed and no Extrude EPS.
Is there another place to get the latest version that I am missing?

April 24, 2009 at 11:52 pmThat’s rather odd alright – I would have expected the filters to exist for you just as they do for me. Hmmm … why don’t you send me your set up info (platform/os version etc) which might help me understand why they don’t show up for you as they do for me.
Did you uninstall before you reinstalled the update?
Cheers,
Peter.

April 25, 2009 at 12:22 amAlso just tried uninstall and reinstalling and even downloaded it again.
Still Feb 18th, no Extrude EPS, No SwishPan.
Do you have another installer for the AE plug-in I can download somewhere?

April 25, 2009 at 1:43 amI’m checking with engineering on this – you should have both filters. Thanks for providing the system specs and I’ll be back in touch as soon as the release engineer on this project has a chance to get back to me.
Cheers,
Peter.
