After a meeting, we would like to see if there is some way that we can assist you with getting the BCC 6 filters to work on your current configuration of CS3 under Win 7. Can you please send us the hardware specs of the system that you are running? In particular we would like to know what graphics card and driver version you are using. PLease send that data to me at peterm@borisfx.com and I’ll pass that to our QA group who will attempt to reproduce the set-up that you have. It may be just a driver issue. Are you seeing any unexpected issues with the filters from the BCC OpenGL category?
Cheers,
Peter.

The word from our QA is that Adobe do not fully support AE CS3 on Windows 7 so this may be the reason why you are experiencing these system crashes when using the 3D Objects filters in that configuration. You may have to update CS3 to CS4 to run a supported configuration under Windows 7.

Peter.

We’re looking into this right now – if we cannot easily reproduce the problem then we’ll open up a support case and ask you for more detail. Either way I’ll respond again in shortly.
Thanks,
peter.

Hi,
Currently this filter is FxPlug exclusive and cannot be used in any host other than FCP or Motion. It might migrate into other products in our line but for now the requirements to use the fiter are that you install it into Final Cut Studio host.
If you just need some flickering and shaking of the video clip, then you might want to check out the BCC Film Damage filter (you can disable all of the features in this filter except for Flicker and Shake) or the BCC Jitter filter. These filters are accessible in other hosts, such as RED of BCC AVX.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi,
Well perhaps this is something that we can add as an option in a future version of RED (and thanks for mentioning that) but in the meantime you can easily achieve this by adding the Velocity Remap filter to the clip, then setting a “hold” keyframe for the Velocity parameter with a value of 100 at the start of the clip and go to where you want to hold the last frame of the clip and add a second keyframe for the Velocity parameter again setting it to “hold” but set the value to 0.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Peter.

Well that depends … what host are you using? If you are using FCP then you can use the Boris Continuum Shaders to automate the process. Here’s a link to the BFX web site where you can download a trial version of BCC 6 FxPlug, in case you don’t already have that.
https://www.borisfx.com/final_cut_pro/bccfxplug/new_filters.php#shaders
The BCS shaders are listed at the bottom of the page and the filter that generates this effect is called 3D Perspective.

Peter.

November 19, 2009 at 2:28 pm in reply to: BCC Extruded Text — Rotate Around Globe (Sphere Object)Hi David,
You could actually make that effect in less than a minute in Boris Blue – you can download a free trial version of the software here:
borisfx.com/downloads
It’s the easiest and fastest way of generating the result that you are after and can be used standalone or plugged into many host environments.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Steve,
Try this:
Start with a new instance of the Comet filter applied at default settings to a solid color layer
Set the Destination Z value to -100
Set the Completion time to 50
Set Source XY just on outside of the visible layer area in the comp
Set the Destination XY to the center of the compNow when you preview the result, the comet should fly on screen from the left and the effect should complete just a couple of frames before the end of the layer in the timeline.
Please let me know if this works for you and if not then let me know how I can help you generate the effect by describing exactly how you would like it to look.
I hope this helps,
Peter.

Hi Jaeson,
The BCC Motion Key filter is capable of removing foreground objects from a background but the filter has no way to isolate the foreground object and composite that on a separate background. It’s something that has been discussed internally in the past though and we may offer that in a future revision of BCC.
Cheers,
Peter.
