Would it be possible for you to send me a couple of frames that illustrates the problem that you are trying to solve? If the file is more than a couple of Mb then it would be best to use FTP instead of email. We use yousendit.com ftp service – you can use this for free to send up to 100 Mb.

Hi David,

The Optical Stabilizer motion analysis data is internal to the filter / host and inaccessible to the user and therefore it cannot be saved.

If you move the CTI to a place that is not the end of the clip, perhaps the middle of the clip for instance, you can then move the CTI to the end without having an adverse effect on the result. Basically, the Optical Stabilizer will analyze the clip up to the CTI – moving it forward simply means that additional frames are analyzed.

Making a change to any parameter in the Optical Flow group should result in the recovered motion data being nulled out, requiring the clip to be re-analyzed.

Hi Paolo,

You might want to download Boris RED and use that for your effects as RED includes a standalone render function that enables you to render out the effects that you are creating, which you can then import and sequence in FCE.

From your description of the SD vs HD test result, I can tell that the video card can’t handle the OGL throughput but I need to verify that in our labs to be 100 percent sure. I’ll render out the file and send you the render so make sure that it’s set up the way you want it for final render. This way you will be able to deliver the project. If my hypothesis proves correct, then eventually I think you’ll need a more powerful graphics card.

Hi Brian,

Without actually seeing the project, it’s difficult for me to understand why it is flickering. Instead of working with the HD project settings, try recreating the project at SD to see if the flickering is present at that project size. If this renders without the flickering, try increasing the project size incrementally until you reach full HD. This way we can understand whether the flicker is apparent at any project setting or just at particular settings.

Hi Karux,

While that is a powerful video card, the card is not on our list of supported hardware for the 3D Objects category of filters. You will most likely get the same warning error with he OpenGL category of filters too.

Hi Steve,

I’m assuming that you are importing the file directly into the RED / AvidFX and not pulling the image from the Avid timeline … is this correct? If so, then I suggest that you click on the face of the track that contains the image and in the Control Panel set the Aspect pop-up to “Use Project Aspect Ratio”.

We reproduced the issue using the project that you sent on September 4th and determined that the issue not with our code and is out of our hands – it’s something that Apple needs to fix. We reported the issue to them, they in turn reproduced the issue and have it in their queue for a fix. As soon as I have more info from them I’ll send it along.
