    Hi Stewart,

We don’t have an online tutorial of using Primatte Studio from within the Vegas host at this time but we’ll make one. Essentially, you need to use the sample tool to make that happen. Set the Sample Point control in the area of green / blue screen of the clip that you wish to sample, then select the desired sample shape (single point, 5×5 array or 50×50 array) and then click the Take Sample button. You can then move the Sample Point to another place in the image to add to or subtract from the sample.

From there you can follow the directions included in the included documentation to complete the job of removing the green / blue screen.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

November 29, 2017 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Match Move workflow to track multiple objects in SVP?

    Hi,

Well I guess it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. If you want to isolate and apply an effect to several different areas in a single clip (blur, mosaic, tint etc) then you can accomplish this in a single instance of the BCC Witness Protect filter. Apply the filter, launch mocha, mask and track, then apply back to the host and tune the effect. The same technique can be applied to any filter in Continuum (BCC).

If you would like to provide a clear explanation of exactly the effect you’re trying to accomplish I might be able to offer a more detailed approach to the problem.

    I hope this helps!

    Peter.

  • Hi There,

Only in Avid will you see multiple tracks of host video, which is why you are not seeing additional host video tracks while working with RED in Premiere Pro.

You can create new media tracks in RED and then pull in the video directly from the desktop or any mounted volume by clicking on the V1 icon to the right of the track in the timeline, which brings up a media browser and this is the way to composite with multiple tracks of alternate video layers using RED in Premiere Pro.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Steve,

I had blindly assumed that in addition to Boris RED that you also had BCC installed and this is why I offered the suggestion that you could use the filters directly within the Resolve timeline without going into RED. You could, if you were curious enough to try this, download the BCC 10 OFX filters for Resolve and give that a shot. The trial version is totally free to download and install and the filters operate the same whether registered and licensed or in trial mode.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Steve,

I believe you’ve encountered a limitation of the latest BCC filters inside of Boris RED. This is one of the reasons why the only BCC filters that are truly 100 percent supported and qualified in Boris RED are the ones that ship with the product. The thing is that while most of the more recently introduced BCC filters will indeed be fully operational in RED, some parts of some of the filters are not and unfortunately you’ve encountered one of these situations.

You should be able to resolve the issue by using the BCC filters directly in the host timeline, assuming that you’re using a supported NLE or Compositing system.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

January 24, 2017 at 5:29 pm in reply to: BCC 10 match move on premiere?

    Hi There!

Thanks for your note – here’s the scoop :

We made obsolete the old tracking system in favor of the new and far more robust mocha tracking system that is now included on most BCC 10 filters. Unfortunately we have not yet added this to the BCC Match Move filter, however, there is a very simple workflow to make it work.

    (1) apply the BCC Pyramid Blur filter to the source clip
    (2) click the mocha button to launch the mocha UI
    (3) create a shape and track it
    (4) export the tracking data to the desktop (be sure to select Boris FX BCC Center Point from the Export Tracker dialog box) and close the mocha UI
    (5) replace the BCC Pyramid Blur filter with the BCC MatchMove filter
    (6) twirl open the motion tracker group
    (7) click on the Load button and import the tracking data

We also have a lot of free training material on the website – https://borisfx.com/blogs/videos

Please let us know how that works for you!

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Craig,

Have you tried importing the model into the standalone Title Studio application to see if that works? You can locate the app here :

    c:\program files\boris fx, inc\lib\bcc ofx 10\bfx_app\.

Note that I was able to import a C4D model file without crashing the app but I may be on a more recent build of the software than you are using. If you would like to send me the model file that you’re attempting to import I will test it on my system.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

November 22, 2016 at 7:01 pm in reply to: Boris Page Turn in Avid

    Hi,

I know of two ways using Boris FX product to achieve this result :

    USING BCC 10 :
    (1) stack 3 clips in the MC timeline
    (2) apply BCC Page Turn to the top clip in the stack
    (3) set the background to be first below
    (4) set the alternate layer to be second below
    (5) animate the page turn using keyframes

    or

USING BORIS RED / AVID FX :
    (1) in v2 edit two clips together with handles for the transition
    (2) in v1 add the alternate layer clip so that it’s beneath the transition
    (3) add the Boris RED transition between the clip pair on v2
    (4) enter the Boris RED UI and set the top track to be a page turn
    (5) set the page turn to use multiple clips instead of a single clip
    (6) twirl open the page turn track to reveal the media input for the back
    (7) set the media of the back to solid color / video / still etc

    Cheers,

    Peter.

November 18, 2016 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Can BCC Title Studio draw a travel route path?

    Hi!

This is something which is very easy to accomplish in BCC Title Studio – it’s a simple stroked path that is animated over time. Add BCC Fast Film Glow over the top of the Title Studio effect to make it glow per the video.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
