You know you can copy a clip to a layer above it then turn it into an adjustment layer. Then highlight the original clip and remove the effects. This would allow you to easily enable/disable all the effects for that clip or clips if you have multiple adjustment layers selected.

You could move them all to an adjustment layer.

You can easily balance that out with some curves and a mask from right inside Premiere. Put the new Pen Tool to work. Nice big feather. It’ll be fine.

Option/Alt click on any clip to unlink the video or audio.

I’m not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking but that won’t stop me from suggesting a solution! Nest the composite and use it twice? Once below and then on top? Or invert your track matte and use that on the background footage on a layer higher up the stack?

I think I’ve had this problem before, but I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing.

Big improvements since CS6.

In 2014.1 if you drag on one side it extends both sides. If you’re not getting this just double click on the transition and it will open up duration dialogue box. As far as aligning it you can just drag the transition however you want over the cut. No more “Start/End/Center on Cut”.

I’m thinking I started seeing this with the last update of Mavericks (10.9.5?). I know that update broke the Keychain in some instances and sent my CPU to new heights until I unbound my network status.

OK. So I’m getting some of this in Power Point this morning as I’m fixing them to drop into an edit. Premiere Pro (nor any other Adobe app) is not open.
