The JVC is a great monitor but has a 8 bit panel.
10 bit SDI processing (which the JVC has) is NOT the same as 10 bit display.
The JVC’s have 16.7 million colors = 8 bit display.

A great 10 bit budget solution = HP dreamcolor with AJA HDP converter.
Broadcast 10 bit monitor solution = FSI or Barco.

Check your Mirror on Desktop under Audio/Video Settings – A/V devices”
    Is it checked ON?

    Check on, restart, try again.

Your issues are probably downscaling quality.

    Export quicktime movie curernt settings
    Import in Compressor.
Create DVD high quality ( EDIT FRAMECONTROLS, resize quality to BEST )
This will give great SD DVD quality.

You do have to realize DVD is Standard def so it always look less when watching this on a HDTV.

Why use toast? DVD Studio can burn just fine.

    What storage do you use?
I don’t see anything about storage in your post.
Do you use a dedicated RAID System ?
Do a AJA speedtest on the drive you are editing from.
It seems your storage it too slow to playback 1080p ProRes

    Edit it in HD
    Send to Compressor.
Create SD ProRes file ( with Frame controls resize filter to BEST)
    Import in FCP.
    Match timeline.
    Dump to DV or Digi.

Check in AJA control panel if ALL the framerates are turned on. You can turn some on or off.
    Restart FCP after.

You should be able to playback 1080p29,97 with a Kona LHe/LHi or 3.

I believe the AJA output plugin is an Adobe Premiere related plugin.
Is this possible? Try and remove it from the Library.

You can always call AJA. They are very nice, good and helpful.

HD to SD in compressor when using frame controls is superb. This workflow has worked for me hundreds of times. Even HDV sources look great on DVD this way. Your quicktime scaling workflow might be working aswell but HD to SD in Compressor is only bad if you’re doing it wrong;)
