  • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview – Where Did It Go?

Posted by Steve Price on December 1, 2010 at 2:35 pm

Digital Cinema Desktop Preview isn’t in my list of View>Video Playback options.

I still have ‘None’ and ‘Digital Cinema Desktop Preview – Main’ plus all the AJA LH output presets.

Any idea why this might be? I’ve looked through the manual but alas can’t find the answer…

    Many Thanks,

    Steve.

Check your Mirror on Desktop under Audio/Video Settings – A/V devices”
    Is it checked ON?

    Check on, restart, try again.

Yep – Mirror is ON. It was already on, but I unchecked it, rechecked it then restarted anyway. I still have the same problem.

    Thanks for your suggestion Paul.

Have you tried trashing your fcp preferences?

Thanks for the software Paul, I trashed my preferences, restarted etc but no joy.

Here’s a thread for the same problem from last year. I’ve tried most of the solutions suggested here but alas to no avail.

I haven’t tried a clean FCP7 install though, I don’t really want to go there. I recently upgraded from FCS2 to FCS3 – maybe the problem lies there somewhere…?

    Thanks again Paul,

    Steve.

try switch your display connections on the mac. 1in2 and 2in1
    Or
create a new admin test user.

Thanks again Paul – I tried both options but it makes no difference.

I’ve noticed that some (but not all) of my screen savers have started to work only in the left monitor, while the right monitor displays the words ‘Quartz Composer’. I read on another Cow thread that one option might be to turn off my screen savers – I’ve done this too but once again it makes no difference.

I’m wondering if this is related to the problem and if the fault might actually be hardware related. Maybe there’s something wrong with the AJA Kona LH card I’m using.

    The investigation continues…

    Thanks again,

    Steve.
