You say no audio or image when you render? This is serious.

What’s the media? Which template. Usually this indicates bad media .. or lack of the right codec.

This has confused so many .. it could be improved.

When you hover over that little button it says “Split Screen View” It should say “Effects View On/Off” ..

And the menu is also confusing .. FX ByPassed is checked .. but as the OP points out, you cannot uncheck it. That’s what the main icon button does, turns FX View on and off. Split screen view is nice, right, left and all .. but they don’t STAY checked as you would expect, but they dp stay active until you click the main icon again … something like that.

I’m not sure what use anyone might have for the Clipboard selection? I’ve never found a need for it.

As I say, it’s a confusing control. Could be improved.

January 23, 2017 at 5:24 pm in reply to: What happened to the last frame of my videos?

    >> I thought I could solve this by loading the MOV files to Vegas and cutting and pasting the last frame immediately after itself,

Which MOV file are your loading into Vegas? If you are loading an MOV that includes the subtitles except for the last frame, then what is the problem? If you are loading an MOV that doesn’t include a last frame that is clear of the subtitle, then how can you add a frame without a subtitle?

I don’t have a copy of V11 on my machine, but in V12, I cannot reproduce the cutting off of the last frame.

Which render template are you using? Do you have the original .veg files and AVI files? Why not use them again?

  • I am not expert at reading the error messages. It seems like a memory error. Do you have any reason to believe your system has problems? Is Vegas all that is going wrong? What was your last system restore point? Do you suspect a virus or Malware? Any new hardware recently installed? Drivers?

YOu can uninstall and re-install Vegas. It should not cause any problems — unless you have system problems in general.

It would be ok to install Version 11 .. You don’t have to uninstall Version 9 to do it. They should both run on the same machine. Its worth a try. The project should open in Version 11.

THe way to narrow things down is to test. You say you can render other projects ok. THIS IS GOOD. This seems to indicate its something specific to the one .veg file. Not a system problem. Not a Vegas corruption problem in general.

Most of the time these things are MEDIA problems. Test render the media in a fresh project. It could be a single still image that can cause things like this.

Can you make a project with just the first event of your bad project and render it to the same template which keeps crashing? Think how you can test. How can you narrow this problem down. Keep reducing the elements of your project for testing until it will render.

Is it Vegas — the media? — my system? How do you rule things out?

  • Likely it’s a problem with some media in the project. You need to find out where the render is going bad.

    Narrow down the problem.

Render about 1/3 of the project — if it goes, do the next 1/3 — and then the last to find the spot that is going bad.

Keep narrowing until you have the area that is bad .. replace or repair the media — or whatever appears to be the problem.

I repeat. Narrow down the problem. If you can’t get any part of your project to render, then test render other media.

If nothing at all will render — even something very simple — then, uninstall and re-install Vegas ..

    Hope this helps.

Is this a Vegas menu that has “Add Text Media”? I’m not seeing it.

Or is this Vegasaur or something other third party software?

    >> I added multiple subtitles to my video by right clicking and selecting “Add Text Media”.

    What are you right clicking?

  • Something weird here. If you copied and renamed a veg, how could it change the original? Seems impossible.

Something is up here. As John suggested, might have something to do with nesting. I ran some tests and got some weird results using nesting. Need more testing.

What exactly changes when you edit a nested veg? I thought your nested veg would change if you changed the original but the original would not change if you edited the nested veg? .. I’m no nesting expert — hardly use it.

I have used the smoothness (keyframe interpolation slider) in the past — but not lately — frankly I forgot it was there. Thanks for reminding me. No doubt it will help “smooth” things out.

No wonder I spend time here. Always picking things up. Thanks.

I would try to set the project properties to match the media that is produced by the Wolverine. You may be able to render to 720p ?? Not sure. Experiment.

Regards the speed compensation, I’d slow it down to about 60%. That should get you in the ballpark.

Let us know how good this Wolverine is .. sounds like very little money for frame by frame scans.
